PMDG 777 false terrain alarm

Featured Replies

If you look here http://forum.avsim.n...rms_of_use.html you will see that multiple accounts are against AVSIM terms of service. Probably written before the days of logging in with FB or twitter IDs so I don't know if they view that differently now. None of my business, but I think you ought to resolve this with AVSIM before they resolve it for you.

First: This is not a multiple account, because I have ONLY 1 account open on AVSIM. When you login with FB, you don't have to open another account on AVSIM, but as the phrase says you login with FB account, wich has nothing to do with AVSIM account.

Second: I log in with FB account only for my comodity because I don't wanna waste time to write the name and pws every time I login into the forum.

Third: As you say, is none of you're bussines.

Four: there is no rule of the forum wich says" IF YOU HAVE AN AVSIM ACCOUNT IS PROHIBITED TO LOGIN WITH FACEBOOK "

Period!

One thing that might be a solution would be to go into the PMDG\Navdata folder, and delete the file APT_RWY.dat. This file will be re-generated the next time the the 777 is loaded, using the data supplied in the other Navigraph .txt files in the Navdata folder.

A fresh AIRAC download will include a pre-compiled version of APT_RWY.dat, but there could be errors in it, and there is no harm in deleting it, and letting the 777 rebuild it on next load. It may not solve the problem, but on the other hand, maybe it will...

Artur,

Obviously as AVSIM provide a FB login facility it's not against the rules. I was trying to help, there's no need to shout at me. You seem to have two separate accounts with different usernames, different join time and different number of posts. Clearly you didn't intend it to be that way, but I think you would be well advised to ask AVSIM to merge the two accounts if possible.

I don't have a problem with you logging in with FB, but I don't see the advantage. If you log in with your AVSIM username you don't have to enter the details every time, simply check the "remain logged in" box and save the password in your browser. Whenever I open the AVSIM forum I'm already logged in.

It should still work. The warnings come from the terrain database. All runways at an airport have the same elevation in FSX so if you've selected any of them any elevation correction PMDG are making should apply equally well. If corrections are also being made along the approach path then that might be runway specific.

I am so close to getting a screenshot guys

I was trying to land at VHHH at 07L with ILS but the game crashed at when the jet descended through 1360ft, then my gaming time is over =_=

It also implies that my computer is now running but perhaps not for long

False terrain alarm now accompanies all of my landings, that's like a " landing sound track ".

It would be cool anyway to get rid of it.

there finally a more decent photo of me landing at VHHH and of the malfunctioning alarm

That's a pretty poor picture, to be honest. I mean, I can see most of the major things are covered - gear is down and flaps seem to be a in a landing config - but taking a picture/camera with a phone is a bit backward. The sim comes with a default screenshot button. Just hit the V key...

Concerns:

  • Your selected speed is below your VREF. If anything, it should be at least 5 above it.
  • Your INIT REF page isn't displayed, so I don't know what flap setting you've selected to see if it matches.
  • Based on the picture, it's hard to tell, but it seems like you have add-on scenery that isn't lining up with everything. That isn't going to cause it directly, but it could be an indicator of another problem causing it. It could just be the odd angle you have things set at.

I had this issue for the first time after a short flight testing something else. I set it up for an autoland, so speeds were good (Vref+5) and the aircraft was on the ILS for Gatwick. The terrain display was on and as I got nearer the runway the airport area began to be shown in amber as if it was elevated above the surrounding terrain, which Gatwick certainly isn't. I started to get warnings and the other ND showed terrain automatically.

My AIRAC cycle is 1501.

I'll play ignorant.  I thought yellow was close to you and red above? Don't know the specifics but I'm willing to learn.

Regardless, the alarms were false. Does cycle 1502r2 (current cycle) provide same results?  If so, that is reason to submit a trouble ticket.

Vref is 119 with flaps 30, the autoland worked fine and the plane did flare and land on the runway

It would've done it right at the flap limit speed, too. That doesn't mean it's good, or right. If you're not using proper procedure in one area, I'm betting you're using improper procedure somewhere else, which could be causing this.

If you want a plane to behave realistically, you have to treat it realistically.

Your speed clearly shows below the VREF marker. We're you using the Flap 25 marker for a Flap 30 landing? I mean...the fact that you're clearly ignoring the plane here kinda tells me you're ignoring other things, too, which could be the cause of your issues.

Yes the warnings are false but they shouldn't be there at all. If I had 1502 I would have been flying it. Why would a false warning with 1502 be indicative of a problem but not with 1501?

How do you explain the elevated terrain displayed immediately around the airport? That caused the warning. Everything else was green.

I have NOT misused the plane or used it unrealistically.

Vref is 119 (speed on the AP panel) for flaps 30 and I am clearly in the right speed range

my speed is clearlu
