March 9, 201511 yr Roland, if you can make it so that the traffic load is balanced between parallel landing runways that would be amazing. LAX is a great example of the problem of landing runway workloads on parallel runways, and would be a great testing ground. After the initial overwheming AI traffic load settles down when you start the sim, about 75% of the traffic goes to 24R, about 25% to 25L, obviously based upon where the planes originally departed from creating the inbalance. It would be amazing if the workload and aircraft spacing were balanced to eliminate most go arounds, and then have the aircraft taxi to the appropirate gate based upon our ADE custom AFCADS. Thanks for all of your efforts.

In Enhanced Mode Options (Approach and Final), you can change the maximum number of AI landing or departing per runway before load balancing starts. The default is 5 AI, but you can lower the value to 2 or 3. Version B will also allow you to force the landing runway, including parallel runways (or a pair of crosswind landing runways). When the landing runway is forced, the load-balancing will be 50-50. Regarding gate selection based on ADE custom AFCADS, that is also fixed in version B. Sorry (especially to those seriously impacted by alpha version bugs) I haven't got B version out yet. There's a lot to pull together. If it take too much longer, I'll put out another hotfix. -Roland
March 9, 201511 yr I am getting a crash to desktop when I try to load the AI Monitor. I posted a picture of the error message. Oddly, the AI Controller part appears to load and direct traffic as it's supposed to.Delete AIControllerPath.txt and AIControllerList.txt (might want to make a backup). Reload AI Monitor. Any difference? I deleted the 2 files and now it won't the AI Monitor will not even pop up and crash. Basically nothing happens. The process is not showing as running in the Task Master either.

Not a fix, but it would be useful to see if an uninstall/reinstall resets AIMonitor so that it loads up again. -Roland

Same problem I can open the AI Controller and it appears to be working but I cannot even get the AI Monitor window to open anymore.

I know you mentioned you didn't see anything running in the task manager, but double check again after reinstallation that the program isn't loading minimized. Sometime the app's size and position get corrupted (especially after a crash). If AIMonitor is running (e.g., you see an AIMonitor icon in the taskbar), press Alt + Space to get a menu with the option to maximize the Window

March 9, 201511 yr I don't recommend editing the .ini file manually anymore because AIMonitor overwrites the .ini file everytime AIMonitor runs. Use AIMonitor to change SID/STAR paths, press apply and force update. Does that work? Well I tried the method above have not tested.... How will AIController know to control AI in say OPKC for example. I have converted all the SID/STARS using the SID/STAR Converter. Last version I was told to paste the entries from the sample.cfg to the ini file?? MSI Codex 5 10SC-262UK Desktop PC - Intel Core i7-10700, RTX 2060 Graphics, 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD, 256GB SSD.
March 10, 201511 yr Would it be possible to add a feature to Version B where the user could delete/cull a specific aircraft via AIMonitor? Maybe, right click on the aircraft in the list in AIMonitor to cull it. This could be useful when an aircraft is acting up or gets stuck on a node. The user could just get rid of just that one without having to reset all AI traffic activity. Great work on this btw. This is an awesome utility.
March 10, 201511 yr Roland, I have a question regarding AI rollout. I was at KDFW for over an hour this evening testing different setting on this program and I noticed that every time planes landed, they came to a complete stop on the runway, turned off lights, and very slowly turned off the runway. I tried several different scalars and exit runway speeds, but each time they did this. Another thing for taxiing, the aircraft basically stop and pivot around an axis instead of just turning like normal. I have been following the topic for the most part, but I haven't been able to read every post to see if this has already been covered. Thanks for all your hard work. Yes ,that's definitely a problem (if you're using the jetroutes option). Delete jetroute_graph.txt, then next time AIController runs, look to see if it is rebuilding the file. Let me know if it is empty again. That fixed it. Maybe this was caused by running AIController with Jet Routes selected but no wpnavrte.txt file in the directory. If this is the case perhaps the program could be coded to delete a blank jetroute_graph.txt file in this scenario. Just a thought. Happy now Andy Brockbank
March 10, 201511 yr Hello guys, Sorry to hijack this thread, but I've updated the converter tool with some new features. I've updated the thread about the converter here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/446398-sidstar-converter-for-aisidstar/ Follow it to get the latest updates. Let me know there if you need anything. March 10, 201511 yr Author How will AIController know to control AI in say OPKC for example. In the options menu of AIMonitor, add the path to the folder in departure/approach paths, select the folder(s) you want active, then apply (and force update if you want to be safe). Would it be possible to add a feature to Version B where the user could delete/cull a specific aircraft via AIMonitor? Maybe, right click on the aircraft in the list in AIMonitor to cull it. This could be useful when an aircraft is acting up or gets stuck on a node. The user could just get rid of just that one without having to reset all AI traffic activity. Great idea, thanks. I'll look into it although it probably won't make it into version B. I appreciate this suggestion because I'm a big user of the FSX Traffic Tools addon, which provide a similar feature (highlighted, list-based deletion of AI) that I find extremely useful. It would be nice to have something like this for P3D. I had thought of that and just tried it again with no luck. Just for giggles I also cleaned my system of any possible viruses which could be blocking. This is now driving me batty. Is there any information in the Windows application logs at approx. the time you attempt to load AIMonitor? -Roland If this is the case perhaps the program could be coded to delete a blank jetroute_graph.txt file in this scenario. The hotfix for rev. A should have reduced the pivoting, although it will still happen during sharp turns. Some of the AI taxi options like off-angle thresholds, speed, and margin of error can also be used to reduce pivoting. -Roland

March 11, 201511 yr Hi Roland, another question. I read about networked solution so that your tool runs on another computer and manages the AI. Since in FSX and P3D the default AI engine runs on one core where all other jobs are handled (pls. correct me if I am wrong), can I conclude that this networked solution would improve the whole performance? Everybody who uses customized AI traffic knows waht I mean. This is brining down the whole performance when using 100%. I am building up latest version of P3D and considering to run your AI Controller on another rig, maybe a notebook if it makes sense and this combination relieves P3D. Best regards, Axel
