March 25, 201511 yr Hi guys I will like to hear opinions about what would be better to get the best performance from Gforce Nvidia 780 a pc monitor 4K or TV 4k connected HDMI..I am looking a 28 inches and have better refresh rate ...I guess......what brand? I currently have a HZ281 28 inches conected via HDMI only 1920x1200 resolution 60 hertz... thanks Pedro Pedro Rodriguez
March 25, 201511 yr 60 Hz is more relevant than 4K resolution ! the native resolution of simulator is limited indeed. ALPER S.
March 25, 201511 yr Well I'd vote for TV... I enjoy my 40 inch TV very much. However if you must have 4k now you'll run into a problem because your video card and TV must both support HDMI 2.0 in order to get 60 HZ, otherwise you're limited to 30 HZ. The 780 doesn't have HDMI 2.0 so you'll have an issue unless you get a new video card too. With the 780 you'll be forced to run at 60 HZ 1080p or 30 HZ Ultra HD. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's correct.
March 25, 201511 yr Not sure if a Nv780 can drive this at 4K (probably only a 970 or better - needs a Display Port 1.2a for 4K) but it is a great possibility: http://www.trustedreviews.com/philips-brilliance-bdm4065uc-review PC=9700K@5Ghz+RTX2070 VR=HP Reverb| Software = Windows 10 | Flight SIms = P3D, CAP2, DCS World, IL-2, Aerofly FS2
March 25, 201511 yr That should work because it's got the display port. Most TVs don't. I imagine though for the extra cost he'd be better off upgrading the video card and getting a TV. I have a 780ti and I think I'll just wait until the next round of video cards. It doesn't seem like a big deal to upgrade to a 980. Plus at 4k you'll need more VRAM.
March 25, 201511 yr i tried a tv for 6 months, after going back to a 2560x1080 monitor, no way would i use a tv again, just my opinion.
March 25, 201511 yr I ran FSX on a 40" Samsung TV for about a year with track ir.... I then invested in 3 32" monitors....I don't think I would fly any other way now...it adds so much peripheral vision that world feels like it should: massive. Cheers, Jonathan
March 25, 201511 yr There are reasons why most 40+ inch tv's are around the same price as 27in monitors. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024
March 25, 201511 yr .I don't think I would fly any other way now I'm on 3 27" inch, can't go back. But you might want to take a look at this: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/452305-prepp3d-views-peripheral-distortion-correction/ Most SmartTV's are monitors. But don't quote that. March 25, 201511 yr Hi Pedro, I have just purchased a 4K Samsung UHD HU9000 55inch TV to replace my 3 X 30in monitors, took me a few hours to get use to the bigger screen but I must say its absolutely amazing and I recommend it to everyone. I have a Titan Black GPU and can confirm when using the latest Nvidia Drivers I'm getting 60hz at 4096 x 2160 with HD True Color. I must admit I was sceptical about the purchase at first but the color and clarity is superb. I even had a performance increase with better FPS and less OOM and texture loading is now instant when panning around in VC or outside view. My system is kinda old now 2700K OC 4.8 but using the TV I can have all P3D slides maxed out with soft clouds flyin the PMDG777 or NGX into major add-on airports. Only thing I still need to do is save my flight at TOD then restart the SIM, reload and land after a 15 hour flight in the 777 or I'll get an OOM on final. trust this helps iceman
March 26, 201511 yr Author hummmm this is something I will have to seriously think about...prices for good quality of both are pretty high so I will have to think about it..and the 780 is only 7 months old...... thanks for you guys responses anyway Pedro Hi Pedro, I have just purchased a 4K Samsung UHD HU9000 55inch TV to replace my 3 X 30in monitors, took me a few hours to get use to the bigger screen but I must say its absolutely amazing and I recommend it to everyone. Well I'd vote for TV... I enjoy my 40 inch TV very much. March 26, 201511 yr Here try this link. http://forums.evga.com/780ti-sc-SLI-How-to-get-UHD-60Hz-please-Apparently-DP12-to-HDMI-20-but-39how39-pls-m2272354.aspx You can run 1080p fine at 60hz+ with HDMI 1.2.... If your monitor or Tv has a display port, it has enough bandwidth to carry 4k at 60hz, but HDMI 1.2 does not, so you could use the display port of your 780ti. Virtually no TVs have display ports, but if you go the monitor route some monitors do. The 780ti only supports HDMI 1.2, but the 970,980 and Titans have HDMI 2.0, meaning you could hook that up directly to a 4kTV and have 4k at 60hz. Since I'm in the same boat as you, my thought is to just wait on the next generation of video cards, unless money's not an issue and you can afford to upgrade everytime a new card comes out. Anything but the latest Titan (even that maybe) will probably still struggle at 4k. I'm curious about how the textures look in P3d in 4k. It seems like if you ran 4096 textures you'd OOM alot anyway. SOmeone correct me if I'm wrong. I hope that helps...
March 26, 201511 yr Author thinking about 980 I see 4 different s variations and prices there.....any advise? http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GTX-GDDR5-Graphics-Card/dp/B00NT9UT3M thanks Here try this link. http://forums.evga.com/780ti-sc-SLI-How-to-get-UHD-60Hz-please-Apparently-DP12-to-HDMI-20-but-39how39-pls-m2272354.aspx You can run 1080p fine at 60hz+ with HDMI 1.2.... March 26, 201511 yr If you go the 4K tv route, make sure the tv supports HDMI 2.0. Personally I would recommed spending your money on a 1440p monitor, 4K gaming is very demanding in regards of performance...
