March 25, 201511 yr Here's a recent example: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/topic/v-2-5-aircraft-texture-dullness/ Here's a bug that was uncovered by a user and it probably affects only a tiny segment of the installed P3d user base. Further, probably most people wouldn't have even noticed this issue. Contrary to what a few "unhappy customers" here have posted recently, LM staff are very responsive to user requests. When they seem to not be responsive it's because: 1. The "bug" cannot be reproduced on LM's test systems. 2. The "bug" is a limitation caused by the overall design of MS ESP. 3. The "bug" is caused by the user setting the image quality sliders at levels that exceed the ability of the hardware to run the sim properly. 4. The "bug" is actually caused by either improperly coded 3rd-party add-ons, the operating system or video drivers. 5. The "bug" is not explained in enough detail for LM to understand what the user is complaining about.
March 25, 201511 yr Moderator Right on the mark, Jay. I wish your post could be a sticky on EVERY support forum around. I don't know which irritates me more, the people who post a "bug" with little or no information or the folks who follow with the +1 posts. Great post! March 26, 201511 yr Great posts!! sorry Vic but both deserve a +1.... I try to answer and help as much as possible here and in other forums, and yes the number of times I DO NOT intervene iis because the requester has failed to 1. Research the problem 2.Provide some info about it 3.Recognize that HE or HIS system is the problem. and so on.... Jorge ps this is my first +1 ever.

March 27, 201511 yr I notice in the example linked to above the poster had to wait 12 days for an initial response from LM. I can just imagine the uproar here if Orbx or A2A etc took that long to respond or, as more often happens with LM, never respond. How much effort would it cost LM to respond to each post with a simple initial link to a FAQ (which could include the five possibilities listed above) or a "known issues page" or a "fill in your system details" page. Gee they could even automate that. gb. YSSY. March 27, 201511 yr Author I notice in the example linked to above the poster had to wait 12 days for an initial response from LM. First of all, the original post (Daq, 2/22) was not convincing in demonstrating that there was a bug in P3d. On 2/28 a different user (DaveWG) demonstrated the bug very carefully. On 3/4, Kevin Cartrette of LM asked for additional information as to whether this bug was limited to add-on aircraft, because the default aircraft were not showing it on LM's test computers. After a few more exchanges, Kevin responded that the bug had been fixed in LM's internal builds. It actually took 4 days from the time that the bug was shown in a careful manner to when LM stated that it had been duplicated and fixed. And all this over a rather trivial "eye candy" issue. Not to mention that 2/22, 2/23, 3/1 and 3/2 were all weekend days.
March 27, 201511 yr Moderator And all this over a rather trivial "eye candy" issue. Not to mention that 2/22, 2/23, 3/1 and 3/2 were all weekend days. Well, I think is was a bit more than simply 'trival,' but nonetheless your point is taken. It never fails that no matter what happens, someone is going to find fault with it. March 28, 201511 yr Author I should have said subtle rather than trivial to be more precise. How many other people posted here or elsewhere about this bug?
March 28, 201511 yr Moderator It's been my observation that LM doesn't respond to every post but they do read them. If they can duplicate the error, they respond. If they cannot duplicate, they generally ignore it until there are a lot of similar posts. Through the years I have found that the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of bug posts (FS9,FSX,P3D) are from users who have other issues on their system causing the "bugs". Were a tech support group to respond to every one, they would accomplish nothing. I also believe that, if more users did a little research, rather than asking the same questions, we would all benefit. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
April 1, 201511 yr Moderator Gee, that took so long . That's because LM doesn't read the forums or listen to user requests! RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
April 2, 201511 yr There's actually been a few new faces from the LM crew responding to queries, which is cool. The only thing I do wish for is an automated license activation system...
