March 31, 201511 yr Hello all, Firstly, my system specs: Intel Core i5 3570K @ 4.5ghz, GTX 960 2gb, 1TB HDD, Corsair Hydro Series H55 Liquid Cooler. All temps and everything run fine. The FPS I get is great, usually 30-50fps, in heavy weather can drop to 26-30 if I'm in a heavy payware aircraft such as the NGX. The problem I am having, is I can be flying with 40-50 fps, and as soon as I go through cloud, it drops to between 15-25, then once I'm at the cloud straight back up. Using REX soft clouds, but at the lowest RES, with ASN for the weather. I've tried deleting my shaders, but that doesn't seem to help. Have Anti-aliasing set through nvidia at 4xSGSS, FXAA turned off in the sim and Anisotropic set to 8x. Any way to stop this FPS drop in the clouds? Many thanks, Dan

March 31, 201511 yr its simple really, turn it down or do not have good frames going through clouds. Priorities Shane.
March 31, 201511 yr But then my autogen has really bad shimmers, that's why I have it at that setting Remove SGSS and test with DSR 4x + 4x MSAA. In my 980 works quite well (it remains a small shimmering, but you can not do better with the clouds).
March 31, 201511 yr Hi, I thought DSR would be much more demanding on the GPU than SGSSAA? Maybe I'm wrong... When I use 8xMSAA + 4xSGSSAA the load on my 970 (4Gb) is almost always at 100%. I would expect a similar load when using DSR. Or is it a bug of P3D? What do you think? I've noticed that even 2xSGSSAA can be a massive performance killer. Regards, Sebastian
March 31, 201511 yr Remove SGSS and test with DSR 4x + 4x MSAA. In my 980 works quite well (it remains a small shimmering, but you can not do better with the clouds). I'd go with this advice as a start as well...
March 31, 201511 yr Hello, what is DSR ? Is it a parameter in Nvidia Inspector or in P3D settings ? Stephane Location : FMEE
March 31, 201511 yr what clouds are you using ...i use REX soft clouds and get no fps when in clouds. They are 512 res but looking at them they still look great. steve REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett
April 1, 201511 yr Take a closer look at your ASN settings. Some of the options have significant impact on your FPS (ie. enhanced overcast, clouds layers etc.). Tune them down and see how it works. Lukasz Kulasek i7-8700k, RTX 2080 TI, 32 GB RAM, ASUS TUF Z370-PRO Gaming, Oculus Rift CV1
April 1, 201511 yr i use REX soft clouds and get no fps when in clouds. How do you fly with 'no fps' ?
April 1, 201511 yr sorry i've lost it...should have said i get no fps hit when using REX soft clouds steve  REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett
