August 13, 200520 yr Bruce,I did miss your original post on pricing and may I just suggest that value may not always be measured in megabytes...it's also a measure of time and effort put into the project, along with the quality it represents to the end user and that of course is purely subjective. Another consideration to take when considering a price point is the cost of distribution and lest we forget...the tax man...as a brand new small business owner I am totally blown away by these expenses. As for Australia...one of our Beta Testers is from near Sydney and believe me he's not going to let me get away with anything when it comes to his beloved Ausralia, so I would expect a huge improvement to your homeland. Also...if you'd like, when we announce Australia Alpha project, please join the forum and add your two pence worth, and if we have the room, I'd be more than glad to welcome you as a [email protected]
August 13, 200520 yr For someone that already owns FScene (NA/4 seasons), if I choose to replace it with BE, what if anything significant am I going to get extra?IOW, are these meant to be straight competitors, or is one truly feature richer.* Orest-~~~~~~~~~Orest Skrypuchwww.united-virtual.comUAL1445 Staff ORDFO Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
August 13, 200520 yr Sorry if this has been answered but this thread has over 100 replies now and I couldn't read through all.Is this for default landclass or also for FS Genesis, UT etc.? FScene, for example is not compatible with the FSGenesis landclass. The reason is that this landclass also applies some textures that normally only appears in other areas, south america mostly. The result when using FScene is that you get some default textures, some FScene unless you also buy FScene South America set. Will this also happen with BEV? -

Will this also happen with BEV?HI Jimmi, check the FAQ on the BEV website, it answers a lot of your questions. But I am beta testing BEV using both UT and the FSG landclass, and I am yet to see anything weird. So as far as I know it's 100% compatible with UT and FSG.
August 14, 200520 yr Hi JimmiG,I can't comment on what South American textures would do as the testers have only been given North American textures to work with to this point. That said, most of us use FSGenesis landclass and Ultimate Terrain, and the combination of them and BEV is great! Thanks for asking!Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]

There also have been some tweaks to maximize the amount of autogen showing. It is planned to have a configuator type of interface to allow you to choose between several different textures, for say, rocks, for instance.Other than that, it is stictly up to the potential user as to what looks better. Ruud has done some wonderful work with FScene. Take a look at screen shots from the two products and its up to you if the BEV textures are something you want to purchase.Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]
August 16, 200520 yr I haven't been on the forum in a few days, so I don't know if your question has been answered or not...but, here's my two pence worth.MegaScenery will work fine with BEV with the understanding that MegaScenery will over write the BEV textures in the area you're using it, just as it does with the default textures. Yes, you'll be able to switch from BEV to your default settings through our auto configurator...
August 16, 200520 yr Colin... I don't know if you've been on the BEV forum...but we've posted several pictures with nothing more than FS9, BEV and a decent Mesh... If you want the mesh removed...think flat!Stephen R. [email protected]
August 16, 200520 yr In productions is an autoswitcher which will allow you to switch texture sets that are created specifically for a specific region. So, if you are using a landclass for that region and want to use BEV rather than the default textures you just simply go to the autoswitcher, click on the region you're flying in with the landclass and waa...laaa... you have instant compatibility. All textures will be region specific...and should work flawlessly with the landclasses developed for those regions. Many of the guys are currrently testing BEV with FSGenesis Landclass...and have reported wonderful [email protected]
August 16, 200520 yr Tony, I guess I'd be wanting to buy by continent in all 4 seasons for purposes of consistency. I might try the USA-Canada that way.Would love it if there were a flyable demo. Say one of the Hawaiian islands etc.Eric AND
August 17, 200520 yr We announced today that BEV will be available from Flight1.com for Volume 1, target date is October 1st.http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...?TID=13135&PN=1
August 19, 200520 yr Tons of new screenshots up ... we're testing deserts and rocks and dry areas, so lots of shots of Vegas, KSLC, Phoenix, Grand Canyon etc. Also some shots of the latest autogen.
August 19, 200520 yr StephenI'm rather late in replying but thank you for that heads up; I now await BEV-Oz with great interest. One of my pet peeves with the default textures is that summers in Australia are displayed as green. Apart from the east coastal fringe and the tropics (& Tasmania of course) the only time it is green is briefly in spring and after rain in the outback when Lake Eyre fills with water the desert is miraculously transformed.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

In fact this year it's been so dry that it's stayed brown all through winter until just recently it's slowly greening up for Spring. That will last all of 6 weeks as the temp get hotter.Hehe! It's a hard concept for North Americans to grasp eh? To get an idea of what the outback will look like, check out the latest desert textures in the gallery, then add about 20% more red/brown colour tone - and you'll get the idea.
August 21, 200520 yr What about people who fly long haul from one continent to the other? We have to just decide on what textures to show for that flight? Is there no way to have all the textures region specific loaded at the same time?
