FS9 does it already for you today - selects specific textures for the region of flight.Michael J.

Then why were they talking about using a texture switching program so you select what region you are flying in?

I think Stephen's explanation may be confusing when he talks about autoswitcher - since autoswitcher suggests that something will be done automatically for yout. What I think it is nothing more than ability to customize you scenery textures before you even start FS9. Say you prefer redder rocks in Grand Canyon, etc. A bit like selecting different cloud shapes/themes in Flight Environment - you have to do it before you start up FS9.Michael J.

Hi Michael,You are exactly right. The auto switcher lets you choose what texture combination you want before you launch Flight Sim. Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]BEVBetaSig.jpg

To Steve and "Koorby",From what I have seen of the product you are developing, it looks fantastic. I am certainly willing to spend $12 on first installment, considering all the work that must have gone into it! If I am satisfied I will continue purchasing the following installments and partake in the savings after the 4th. purchase.Pete S.

Thanks Pete :) As we've said previously, you really have nothing to lose spending $12 on the initial volume. We are confident you won't be disappointed.

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!There's more than one sim out there, a guy named Harold Kraft invented a utility that can import addon MSFS scenery to FLY and FLY II. If your product can be imported, I'd definitely give at least the US Summer textures a spot on my HD. BTW, judging from the number of file downloads, FLY is increasing in popularity, maybe as hardware that handles it trickles to those in lessser tax brackets. And what about the new freeware sim from www.flightgear.org ? Would be a way to expabd your market, esp if it converts to Xplane, FU, what the hey, Falcon...Best Regards, Donny:-wave

If you can import our textures into FLY!, all power to you! Let us know how it works out won't you, perhaps we can cater to that growing market also.

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Well I guess there would be only one way to find out. I'll e-mail Harald and see what he thinks, then prolly take the plunge when US summer comes out.. If it don't work out, it wouldn't be a total loss, just organised better to make room for both FS9 and FLY with plenty of room (I think) for addons for both. Actually, I am fairly happy with the default FS9 scenery, but FLY's default is from a different era and shows it. In MSFS the Lehigh river runs up and down a mountain by my house, but in FLY I haven't been able to even find it. Tried on and off for years to find where a campground I lease a site at is, finally succeded with FS9.The only known solution so far to combine FLY with the default MSFSscenery involves the use of two computers. Developers have hesitated to develop a file to facilitate importation so it can be done on one, so it's limited to addon. Even though users would be required to own the MSFS product to use the default scenery, the litigation factor remains.Best Regards, Donny:-wave

Donny, have you looked at Ultimate Terrain - it will most likely increase the accuracy of that river area you're referring to. UT-CA/AK and UT-USA work superbly well with BEV.

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Well I am generally confused about scenery aspects and what specific components accomplish. Just checked and you're enabled, not trying to get you far off topic so I'll PM you.Best Regards, Donny:-wave

  • 2 weeks later...

Guys, we're 3 weeks from finishing this monster, but I've put up a whopping 177MB MPEG-2 DVD-quality preview video of BirdsEyeView if you have a broadband connection: ftp://70.89.244.237/media/videos/GrandTour1.mpg Trust me, it's worth the download!

Shesh on a 6mb connection can only pull down 4k a sec. You guys need better hosting.

>Shesh on a 6mb connection can only pull down 4k a sec. You>guys need better hosting.>Yes, current download speed is unusable.Michael J.

On a postive note, there have been a lot of new screen shots featuring the "dry" textures put up in the screenshot gallery, and that doesn't seem to be having performance problems currently. There are even some default comparison shots right there as well. :)Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]BEVBetaSig.jpg
