  • To be honest, I don't.   As is said, nothing is more misunderstood than the written word. It can be just too hard to tell what the other person meant, especially when we're dealing with people from

Did you edit the aircraft.cfg file to reflect then additional textures?

I would recommend to chill for a sec and take deep breath, and while we all agree in our FS lives we lost models and textures broke few things with borking configs things so on, no cause to panic. if model dissapeared more then likely the aircraft.cfg got borked thats very easy to fix with little research.  for one did you download the textures or was it part of the install?  if u want post ur f16 aircraft.cfg here or msg i can take a look and i am sure we can fix ur problem.

Thanks for the offer, thanks for the helpfulness some people have shown here. But I know how to edit a cfg file, been a simmer since 1998, done a lot of repaints, airfields and so on. Do I want to do that now, after buying a commercial addon? No. It's not just one cfg, there's lots of them in this addon! Another member described how he did it and it took him a lot of time. I don't want to go there for now. Besides that: how would you think about buying a new car and getting the seperate parts instead of a working one on four wheels?

Cees

No. It's not just one cfg, there's lots of them in this addon!

Unless  fsx se is  different  to fsx   than  cant  see what the issue  is   since  when I  had  to add  liveries  in , all I had  to do is  to edit  the main cfg   not  the  way your describing  on  all the  cfg's

You add the repaints just as you have done for 17 years now. There is just one aircraft.cfg file to edit. The process takes maybe 5 minutes. When you buy a new speaker system for that car, you just don't open the door and throw the stuff in and expect it to work. You actually need to do some work.

Here's the other person again....

The list of features for the F12 show that the Aerosoft and Steam editions are not the same

For example, the Aerosoft  lists 21 different external models, 21 different flight models, and 61 different liveries. The Sream edition shows 20 different external models, and 20 different flight models but NO liveries.

Did you buy the F12 from Aerosoft or Steam ?

Gerry Howard

As I read the OPs posts, it seems his problem is that he cannot see any external model at all - rather that his not being able to see a specific livery / texture.   Could we have an explicit confirmation on that, Cees?

The facts are that the FS12 Steam edition only comes with generic liveries. That fact is made clear on the Steam site.

Aerosoft is offering a free update pack for it. Some users have problems giving the message "Visual model could not be displayed....."

Mathjis Kok of Aerosoft very, very politely replied to Cee Donker

I suggest you de-install the F16 Steam version and then re-install it . That way you get exactly what you bought and it should work fine.

We are still trying to figure out what happens on some customers machine with the (free) livery pack we provide. So far we have not been able to get any issue.

(I use the word advisingly)

Ah that's ok

I´m with Cees here. Bought 3 DLC´s from Steam webshop, all of them did not work. 2 scenery´s did a complete mess in my scenery.cfg (Thank God i do my backups) and the other, the F16 witch works ok UNTIL you install the extra paints from Aerosoft. By that time the models are gone inside FS (Error with external models) and to deal with it is at least 1 hour of manual work (Not just adding paints in the aircraft.cfg by the way) I did a workaround and made it available in SOH forum.

The DLC system DTG uses needs a lot of work. For example the Alaska Mission DLC creates garbage text inside A2A Piper Cub aircraft.cfg, if you have it instated. You need to correct it by hand after the instalation. Another example is, if you use the addon PreciptFX, don´t expect that it will work with your DLC planes, because they will not. But, to be clear, Steam and other games with their DLC´s works perfectly.

So, for now, if the Scenery/Aircraft that you want is available elsewhere go buy it there and not inside Steam if you don´t want a big headache.

I´m with Cees here.

Why - he bought a F12 add-on that doesn't have extra  liveries and then whines because it doesn't have them? He got exactly what he was entilted  to.

Gerry Howard

........and the very Developer of one of the programs in question has politely and respectfully attempted to assist the user.

He answered politely only after Mr.Cess post an angry post over there. Because my original VERY POLITE request was sitting there without any answers for a week before that. I didn´t bother because i managed to correct the issue by myself without any help from them.

I will be completely honest here: when i bought the F16 from Steam i imagined that it would be the same Aerosoft sells. Without any restriction. I confess that i did not read the little words in the Steam F16 DLC page to find that there were no repaints. Who would imagine that?

Go to this page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/343953/

It´s the oficial F16 Steam DLC page. Now tell me that you find the information about the lack of the repaints easy?
