September 20, 201510 yr ..for your FSX-SE, think twice, or better buy the addon from the original publisher! Their addons don't work properly, and once you've tried to get the addon to work and invest a few hours, they tell you bluntly you've played with it for more than two hours and so you're not eligible for a refund. I've had it with these folks. Never intended to go public, but they leave me no choice. Cees Donker
September 20, 201510 yr I saw your other post over at FS.com also. You'd be doing us (and yourself perhaps) a big favor by explaining what the problem is that's stopping you from using the add-on. Lots of folks here have backgrounds on a lot of different add-ons and someone may be able to help you fix things. Or, if there really is an issue with Steam it would help others avoid the same problem. Please let us know what's going on and if you need some help. September 21, 201510 yr Yes, give us more details and less drama. Hi Elaine, Love it! JJ Jean-Jacques CYND, Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport, Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
September 21, 201510 yr Commercial Member Love it! To be honest, I don't. As is said, nothing is more misunderstood than the written word. It can be just too hard to tell what the other person meant, especially when we're dealing with people from so many different countries. In this case, there is too much room for the reply in question to come off as passive-aggressive rather than cute, which could result in the OP feeling offended by a implied slight or worse he could feel belittled or attacked when all he meant was to warn people about something bad that happened to him (at least that might be his impression).. The reply asking for more information is right on target (both of them), however adding "and less drama" just isn't helpful. Worse, it implies that the OP, his opinion, or both, isn't worthy of merit or doesn't belong here. There are certainly people and posts for which this is true, but I don't think I could make a case for that in this instance. I'm not saying Elaine meant any of this, I'm just saying the comment could be taken that way. Sometimes it's the little, unintended things which make people feel uncomfortable, or unwelcome. September 21, 201510 yr Cees , it would have been more usefull to have mentioned the issue was with a particular addon , the Aerosoft F16 if i recall was the plane in question , and only if the addon paints were added. The post leaves the impression all SE addons are borked and this is not the case , extensive testing is carried out to assure compatibility, having sold hundreds of units on Steam personally without a single reported issue demonstrates that to my satisfaction, the long assessment that products go through is there to assure quality and expectations are met. Please dont presume ALL Steam Edition products are broken, its not the case , secondly doing the rounds of the forums looking for comments and reviews on a given product is still your best bet Before buying, FSX , SE , P3D or X Plane , caveat emptor is still the mantra. Best CJ

Best CJ It is vitally important these days to read EVERYTHING that is placed on a product page, even the tiny print. Yes, caveat emptor indeed. IF the product page is not clear or something you expect to have come with the product isn't clearly communicated, don't buy the product until you fee are fully informed. It is not appropriate to bash a product's creator if you haven't done your research first, and even then if you feel you need more info, there are plenty of reviewers out there that can clarify. September 21, 201510 yr Commercial Member Certainly all good points. I'm just saying that we can say things a bit friendlier when we disagree. Everyone benefits from friendly, open discussion. But then, there aren't very many. So, that might just explain it.
September 21, 201510 yr i agree that initially at least, it's better to give people the benefit of the doubt
September 21, 201510 yr As far as I can see the OP never said what wasn't working - either ar here or at FlightSim? Gerry Howard

September 21, 201510 yr Author Here's the other person again. I signed with a name BTW. It's Cees Donker. It's about the F-16 from Aerosoft. This addon has only generic textures. The real textures are missing. If you install these textures after dowloading them from Aerosoft, the visual model is gone! Well I'm not paying 23 euros for a model that I can't see, so I wanted a refund. That was refused three times. People don't care, people don't read, they just apply a rule. That is very frustrating, when you know it isn't right! I tried for hours to get the model to show up and that is explained by the people from steam as playing, and thus I wasn't eliglble for refund! I don't like being treated that way, so I went public. If it costs me 23 euros for an addon that does't work, I'll do my utmost to get it across that I won't accept that, not for these 23 euros, but out of princple. Cees
