one step at a time chris, robert is here now, he can read the issues and is apparently acting upon them. positive progress in my book :) Lets see where we go from here!

A quality MSE product along with full vegetation AND building autogen a la France VFR and night lighting like NE appear to have done with NE France is still what I believe should be aimed for. Clearly is it technically possible it just needs the right people with the right data and the tight processes to bundle it up together...

random thought: hmmm why is france apparently so well provided for? :P

that's because a bunch of very talented people have been working at it for some time now,

it is not an easy task and it is not cheap to produce these high detailed regions;

the key is to have loyal community base that supports your work;

they have it there!

note that they release France in small regional sections; not a single global coverage,

the community support them all the way and continues to,

a similar attempt was made recently in the UK without much success if you recall,

yes I do chris, IMHO the price of the english sceneries was just too much for the market to bear :(

FVFR seem to be able to do their fully autogenned sceneries for €25-30 which is almost half the price so maybe they just got the quality to price point ratio in a sweet spot... :)

There is definitely a market out there to tap for a developer who can put out decent quality pr with autogen and night lights at a not too extortionate price I think :)

w/o autogen ppl criticise it or being too flat

too pricy people opt for cheaper lc like orbx (which is good for what it is at its price but nowhere near as accurate

Are you in contact with the FVFR people then? Perhaps they'll turn their hand to the UK at some point as well? Even if the source imagery is too expensive to licence, perhaps theyd do 3d autogen areas for the uk that could work with the existing horizon scenery areas? That could be cheaper to produce and would sell to a lot of people who already own those volumes!

When will we see NEUK given the lovely NE France treatment anyway please? :P

Liking the communication that has gone on last few days. Have given my thoughts on MSE 2 Ireland/N.Ireland in other threads and trying to stay positive that down the road that Ireland might be improved if it gets MSE 4 treatment. As for the US, looking forward to Oklahoma at some point.

Hi, all,

very interesting to read all your posts. I have installed Washington, Seattle and Oregon from MSE and I found no errors so far, but I bought and installed recently the full version of MSE Italy which is a real disappointment. How is it possible that a wellknown developper like MSE  sells a product with full of grafic errors. If no errors  the MSE scenery of Italy would be ok. That is a real pity. I have contacted MSE directly by mail and provided a full range of pix. I wonder whether I get an answer. . I have cancelled this MSE scenery and installed the freeware SIRX 45GB full italian scenery instead, which is absolutely gorgeous. Anyhow I shall continue to shop at MSE because their US sceneries are nice and for me as a non US citizen it is a joy to fly over photoreal America landscape wonders.

Kind regards from Switzerland

Because they have no control over the quality of the ortho photos.  Wherever it is they get their scenery, they are at the mercy of the satellite.

Switzerland is another example where you can go from very very good to very very bad.  Several places are like that.

I'm the first and last to criticize MSE.   I simply encourage them to strive higher and release excellent scenery in small batches, but they don't.  That was Megascenery Earth X(the original).  Small, excellent quality, with autogen.

I guess you mean Switzerland from MSE, which I don't know. Switzerland professionel from FlyLogic is an excellent photoreal scenery without any  errors. Wonder why US sceneries from MSE seem to be without errors according to my experiences.

Hi Alfred, I have FlyLogic's Switzerland scenery too (and I have the MSE2 version) and I like it a lot. But at over €110 it is also quite expensive. I also have the superb Austrian East HD series, but I am afraid that the Western part will never materialize due to probably poor sales of the Eastern part. The major reason I guess is the price.

And that brings me to your question. Good ortho photos are quite expensive, so the vendor has to decide which way he wants to go: good quality at higher prices (like Swiss, Austria or France VFR) that only few can swallow. Or not as good a quality at a lower price, with more people to be able to afford it (and with the complaints regarding the quality later on).

The reason why MSE is pretty good in the US I assume is due to the fact that the ortho photos are available at decent prices in good quality.

I like the way France VFR approaches the subject. They offer good quality in smaller slices . Only once you have bought all of France, you realize how much money you actually had to spend for it. But as you have bought the scenery in small portions, the pain was less noticable :wink:  :wink:

Hi Bernd,

Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, you are right, Switzerland prof. is very expensive, VFR France too but very nice with freeware autogen. MSE sceneries are in my opinion too cheap. MSE Italy is only 30 USD for 116000 sq mls !  Actually very cheap too.  Anyhow, I would pay 3 times more to get Italy photoreal in good quality. In my opinion it doesn't make sense to sell a product full of errors, it annoys consumers. Bad quality =  bad for the reputation of the company. Better not to offer such a product or sell it more expensive with no errors.

(btw: If you are interested in Europe sceneries: Photoreal Austria east is on sale and Austria west might arrive end 2015) Beautiful!
