ORBX removing scenery on P3Dv3

Featured Replies

The order of  priority in the Scenery Library is explicitly and clearly explained in the OrbX definitive Guide (page 38) : anything non-Orbx have to be above the OrbX sceneries.

As per John V's post, a possible deletion of folders is triggered by an illegal dowload (even a try before buy) of an OrbX product at anytime before. It deletes all OrbX folders, not only the illegal download, but only the OrbX folders. The only way to get out of it, even after buying the OrbX product, is to clean the registry by re-installing Windows.

  • Meaning the orbx entries you have to re-add. In the orbx scripts folder you will find three exe files:       Run each of them, if you have openLC/Vector/Global. They will add back the missing orbx

  • The OP very sensibly went to the OrbX forum where 4 or 5 of the usual suspects  are kindly trying to help him. I have 2500 posts in the OrbX forum and never showed any disdain for  a polite fell

  • Hi folks, yeah the forum at Orbx helped. Basically i needed to do an insertion point and the Orange FTX, Blue OLC had to be arranged in certain ways and all non-Orbx addons had to be above the Orange

Guys, again, read what he wrote before throwing accusations around.

In a standard install of ORBX stuff all scenery entries that are above the FTX libraries will be removed when an FTX scenery has been added and /or regions has been switched via FTX Central. To prevent this removal one has to define a new insertion point. This will be done via FTX Central. If the new insertion point has been defined scenery entries such as OZx,e Airports Of Norway or Return To Misty Moorings will remain in the scenery.cfg

How ever, sceneries like FSDT, Flightbeam, FlyTampa etc should be below the last FTX entry in the scenery.cfg. As long as they are below the entries will also remain in the cfg.

In the unlikely case that your ORBX folder has been deleted after applying the new ftxlibraries only then you should read the official statement from John Venema.

This is incorrect and potentially misleading.

The FTX insertion point simply defines at what point in the scenery library structure the main FTX sceneries are inserted. No other scenery will be affected/removed, the only possibility being that it will not show if it is below (lower priority than) the FTX entry.

I believe that the FTX Central representation of the scenery.cfg is the same as that in P3D/FSX, i.e. higher priority entries at the top.

All third party airports should be ABOVE (higher priority than) the FTX insertion point and will not be affected by any activating/deactivating/switching of FTX regions.

No accusation here just a clarification about the new OrbX mechanism to deter fraud and the SL priorities.  Actually the OP points the finger to OrbX sceneries in his topic title but does not really specify the sceneries which are missing.  I've a little idea where the problem lies if Vector stays in the SL but not the fat regions but the OrbX forum is where genuine buyers should go to get support IMO.

He clearly said that his other sceneries are disappearing, all the ORBX stuff is still there. But I guess it's just easier to accuse him of pirating with passive-agressive posts instead of trying to help him.

To the original poster: I'm sorry, but I think you are better trying to solve this on your own, or going to a place with nicer people, like reddit. The ORBX forums have much of the same crowd as here, and as you can see, helpful and nice would be the last adjectives I would use to describe them. Sorry for not being able to help you.

The OP has posted his question over at the Orbx forum so hopefully their be able to help him....

I absolutely love ORBX products, and have almost every scenery that they make, but I couldn't agree more with this sentiment. Almost every question I have ever seen is met with disdain.

Yet that was exactly what you did on this topic...

No he did not, nor did anyone else in this thread accuse the OP of being a pirate.

All I see is everyone trying to help, guide, and point the OP in a direction to where his problem can be resolved.

What I see are a few people not actually reading the question asked carefully enough...

...and offering non-sequitur answers, all in the genuine spirit of helpfulness of course!

Can you describe exactly the steps that you take where it leads to the non-orbx 3rd party airports to be removed from your scenery config. Also, if you use any other programs to manage your scenery. This is a new one on me. Also, details of your system. OS installed. Sim Version etc.

For the record, I helped the OP to find a cure (or so it seems) to his vanishing sceneries on the OrbX forum where it can be checked that a fellow simmer having a problem is a genuine buyer.
