Carenado Seneca V special deal on FSS

Featured Replies

I just bought this elsewhere for double that, darn it. I've flown it twice only but can flat out recommend it, especially for that price! it's not mind blowing wonderful but a very nice twin piston with modern avionics, really a no brainer.

Thanks for the heads up, its twice that price everywhere else even on sale.  Just purchased.

Following up, got it downloaded, but the installer fails with an "error writing to file error", which a quick google search found a few other posts with the same problem.  Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution, seems it's a Carenado installer error that they haven't provided a solution to solve.

No idea how wide spread this is, but something to be aware of...

FSS has some of the best prices during Carenado's sale!  Just picked up the F33 and added Bernt's FD files... fly's great and looks nice too!

Thanks for the heads up, haven't bought Carenado plane in a long while, but at this price it's worth checking out.

I would look in the Carenado forums here at AVSIM to see if others have found a solution.  I got an error too trying to install it in P3Dv3 and had to cancel out on the installation.  The installer will not install it into P3Dv3 but it can be installed. Instead of indicating FSX, P3Dv1 or P3Dv2 browse for the P3Dv3 folder.  The installer will complete without any problems.  The aircraft will not be installed in P3Dv3 but all of the files will be located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Carenado Installer.  Now you just need to move the files from those folders over to the appropriate files in P3Dv3.  For instance, you'll see an Effects folder.  You don't move the Effects folder to P3D but you do move the files inside the Effects to the Effects folder in P3D.  Some of the files in P3D will be newer so do not overwrite those but skip installing those files as the newer versions work better.

Usually an "error writing to file error" indicates you do not have the permissions to install the program on your computer.  Microsoft put in a lot of security in their operating systems to make sure you are saved from any evil people who might be trying to install nasty stuff on your computer.  So, you have to right click the installer and make sure you install with Admin Rights.  You should also disable any anti-virus program too as some anti-virus programs find viruses and trojans and they are not viruses and trojans but false positives.  They will quarantine a file needed to run your program or prevent a required registry entry to be written in the system registry.  Causes all kinds of problems.  Of course, software downloaded from your favorite flightsim store has already been scanned for viruses/malware so it is considered safe.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Didn't they (Carenado) say recently that once they finish up something or other (shortly) they would go ahead and revise all their installers to make them v3 compatible..?

I just ordered but will not let me download from my account??........anybody have a solution??       B42L8

Thanks for the help Jim... unfortunately it seems like a weird Carenado installer issue, possibly from having FSX:SE previously installed one user thinks.  There's a thread about it over in the Seneca V forum titled "Can't install".  Problem is a solution was never found and OP just gave up.

Curious if anyone else go it working after having the problem.

I'll check it out.  It's fairly simple to install but you do need some knowledge of how to move files using Windows Explorer.  It also needs an entry in the dll.xml but, if you own another product like the Phenom 100 or 300, the entry is already there.

Disagree.. The best prices atm are the ones over at PC Aviator Australia. The only exception if the plane of this thread, which cannot be beat at FSS and is a fantastic deal!

Get it now and wait for the 2.0 version updates at that price.

Steve McNitt

Decided to delete the download and try again, worked just fine this time.  No idea what was different or why, who knows.  Thanks for the help.

Nice plane, well worth the sale price... currently cruising it around Pago Pago island hopping.
