Last night, the PMDG 747 and the Aeroworx King Air, were two of the aircraft that won the commercial add-on awards at the Avsim convention here in San Diego.

Hi Bob,thanks for letting us know and congrats to the makers of these fine products!I'm curious about who won in the other categories of the Bravo Zulu awards. I was actually going to start a "betting" thread before the conference but forgot about it ;-)Cheers, Holger

HiJust out of interest: Level-D 767 didn't win anything ? (!)Tero

The Level-D should have won some kind of award!! this is the best add-on of all time!My 2 centsPaul C.

I believe Level D got an honorable mention, and apparently were right behind the 747. Met some folks from Level D at the show, and they are a great bunch of folks.

>The Level-D should have won some kind of award!! this is the>best add-on of all time!>>My 2 cents>Paul C.I spent some time investigating the Level D while I was at the show, and the comparison that I was making was to the PMDG 737 that I fly all the time. I was a bit disappointed that the gauges and panels in the Level seemed to lok more like default FS9 panel and didn't seem to be up to the level of the PMDG products. The panels and gauges in my 737 are really sharp, and I had some problems reading some of the instrumentation in the Level D 767. I have never tried the PMDG 747, so I can't make a comparison there, but I would think that the 747 panels have to be at least as good as the NG. Since I spend so much time looking at the panel and gauges when I fly, this is an item of major importance to me. I also like the PMDG flight model in the NG and feel that it is more predictable than many large jets that I fly in FS9. I do wish that PMDG would fix some of the remaining bugs that are still in the NG, in one more update, rather than focusing 100% of their energy on their newest products. I think this is a bad precedent to set for any company, and makes people hesitant to buy a product, thinking that it may soon, join the ranks of the "neglected and obsolete".

Congratulations to PMDG, Aeroxorx B200 and LDS. They are clearly at the top of the class. I hope this thread does not become a flame fest but instead recognizes the achievements of all the developers mentioned at the conference. Considering the high fidelity and scope of all three, discussions of bit maps seem a bit silly. ;)Bob....

Hey great stuff for Aeroworx. I was fortunate enough to see these guys hard at work and offer some input into Version 2...what a great group of guys. If you want to know why it probably won you can read the write up I did for SimHQ...as a King Air 200 pilot for the past 8 1/2 years you can see why I love the Aeroworx B200 so much:http://www.simhq.com/_air3/air_112a.htmlCongrats to the Aeroworx team...BeachAV8R

I am not interested in getting in a battle over this topic, because that would be non-sensical. When you give an opinion on something, it is just that, no more, no less. My profession, that I have been involved in for the last 20+ years, is working in very high resolution graphics display applications. I actually work for a company that makes the projectors that go in simulators that range in price from 10-30 million dollars, so I feel that I am able to make a pretty good evaluation of an FS9 panel and it's appearance. I am very particular about what I see, and I stated my opinion and my impression of what I saw, comparing a couple of different simulators. Your mileage may vary, but that will not get me to change my impression and opinion.....:)

Bob, there is a chance the computer that was running the panel was not in the optimized resolution for the Level-D panel. When it is set to this, it is very clear. I believe this specific resolution is 1280 x 960.Just a thought...

Thanks,
