I Would Love to see P3d v3.x ATC Add-Ons Compared Feature for Feature

Like I previously explained. This works only in the US, where you include SIDs/STARs in the flight plan. In Europe, you can't "assign" SIDs/STARs because SIDs/STARs are assigned by the ATC during the flight based on current weather.

In the real world ATC will asign a STAR or SID according to the weather. So when you are setting up your fpl in PFE it might just be a good idea to check the METAR first don't you think? In any case you have already told PFE the alternative SIDS/STARS for each runway.

This is the most absurd statement I have read in a long time. I guess I shouldn't like Pro ATC since I have been a licensed Pilot for over 40 years, learned in one of the busiest ATC areas of the US, South Florida, and Fly all over North America and Europe in the simulator using Pro ATC on every flight.

So obviously you don't know the phonetic alphabet then!

Another non-sensical statement, but since you asked, I learned it in the 50's.

I am not finding a P3D compatible PFE version to purchase - are you using migration tools

In the real world the star is assigned by approach control, since the weather could change while you are enroute, requiring a different star and runway. That is exactly the way Pro ATC does it, by the way.

Richard,

The latest release v2.15 works with P3D.

Thanks but its not saying its p3d compatible also how are you installing - does it need to install anything to p3d folder

Well perhaps you could remind the people at proatc that they should learn it too.

I'm not sure, what you are referring to. Under sound options, you can choose what you prefer. To quote a change log item:

"Some users reported that they don't like how airport, waypoint and procedures are pronounced. You may now decide for yourself how they are pronounced. You will find the option under Options/Sound.."

1. METAR worth checking, yes I agree.

2. In the flight plan, pilots should tell ATC what SIDs/STARs are available at the airports that the ATC controls? I have to say, I haven't seen that done before. (or I misunderstood, which seems more likely)

No, it installs into its own directory, preferably outside of Program Files (x86)

If you do go ahead and buy PFE be sure to also buy the voice expansion pack and download the free PFE voice enhancement pack.

No other ATC program provides as many voice sets as PFE, the fact that the accents of the controllers change as you cross country boundaries is great especially for those of us in Europe

Thanks - what do you think of this program if you have it

Richard,

I've had PFE for a long time. I like the fact that the voices are regionalized (there is an addon voicepack). It's a little more labor intensive in that you have to make sure that your flight plan is in order as far as altitudes are concerned. I always check to make sure PFE's TOD and the one in my flight plan match, otherwise PFE may have you descending too soon or too late. Otherwise it does a good job. If you could take PFE and combine it with VOX that would be even better. VOX right now is not compatible out of the box with P3Dv3 so I've stopped using it.

Rich, I like PFE and use it quite often but normally fly using Radar Contact.

Be aware the there is quite a learning curve with PFE and the install is very involved.

Setting up the flight plan is a bit of work but you soon get up to speed with it.

Still prefer Radar Contact just because it is so reliable with it's vectoring and the ease of loading a flight plan.

ProATC is fine if you let the Co-pilot handle the Comms and fly airliners, but if you have hardware radios and prefer to tune the freqs yourself then it has a bug which does not look like being fixed anytime soon.

Ah great info my friend - thank you - sounds to me that PFE is not in my future and hate RC4 serial number process - life's to short - have no patience for the kind of crap so guess I am running out of choices

Mike W. ,

Appreciate the info you've given Richard.  Eventhogh, VOX ATC is not compatible with P3D v3, I have it running fine in P3D v3.1.  Quick question about the PFE voice pack.  Do you know if someone can purchase the expansion pack  ONLY and plug those voices into the VOX ATC voice configs as I am looking for better voices than the VOX POP provided.  Thanks
