I found that disabling volumetric fog helped my FPS to be playable in dense cloud situations. Also, gave my proper blue sky back.   Take it with a grain of salt though. I haven't done much testing t

Volumize works - thanks for that but clouds definitely dont look as good either - its all good - nice to have options at the moment I am using  //

Guys I'm bloody confused lol

I'm a little slow,

so I have volumetric fog enabled

And upper visibility set to 90 with cloud fx I set to .50

Cloud layers 3

Do I set multiple viaibility layers on? Does it really show or make a difference?

Or keep it off? Or turn off volumetric fog off and leave it at that?

Cheers

You should ONLY comment out the "#define VOLUMIZE" entry, not the "#ifdef..." one.

Thanks. But after I edited the file, deleted shader cache and loaded my test situation, EVERYTHING was exactly identical. FPS and clouds are exactly the same, no difference at all. Pretty strange.

Makes my head spin.  I got mine setup with Multiple Cloud layers off + Vol fog on = Time to Fly!!

Still trying to understand what some people were seeing with the max visibility etc uproar; really don't understand  (Somthing about the sky not blue enough?).

I'm happy with what I've got so that's all that matters.

Sean, with your settings the Max Visibility restriction does not work...

Max Visibility restriction does not work

Is that only for Upper Visiblity Limit?  If so that's ok as I've never adjusted that value anyway.  Usually leave it at default.

Sean Green

If it doesn' work the Upper Visibility will always maxed out...

So you need the settings as I described before.

Either Off/Off or On/On.

Sean, with your settings the Max Visibility restriction does not work...

I did not understand a thing.

By default, Maximum surface visibility and Maximum upper visibility are, respectively, 75 and 100.

These parameters are also respected with Multiple Cloud layers off?

Edit: Sorry, Gerard he gave me the answer.

Bij default Multiple cloud layers are off.

If you have Vol Fog disabled in P3D it is all working.

With the wrong settings combo the alternating restriction ( autoadjustment ) will not work.

PincoPanco, if you don't notice I wouldn't worry. Just go and fly. It is always a matter whether you notice something wrong. Then it's maybe time to change something.

Chris

Thanks, i have Multiple cloud layers On + Volumetric Fog On + autoadjustment on, so all ok.

The most perfect combo.

If you fps are suffering go to the Off/Off settings.

And if then you fps are still suffering put Cloud Shadow quality to Low and in your p3d.cfg file set Cloud Texture Size manually to 256 ( default is 512 ).
