April 14, 201610 yr No update from REX yet? Although REX isn't the root of all evil. Both REX and ASN are just trying to work around some significant changes that allegedly have been made by LM for the current 3.2 release of P3D. No official statement yet by LM that I am aware of but I'm pretty sure things will improve with the next release. For now, I fiddled around that by setting cloud size to the default 0.50 within REX and instead of using 4xSGSS with Inspector I'm using 4x DSR and not using Inspector at all. Keeps my GPU (GTX970) within limits even in cloudy situations. Volumetric fog is on, Multiple visibility layers is on in ASN, 85nm max upper vis. 85nm mincloud draw distance, 95nm max. This seems to work fine, at least for me. There are some glitches with the upper visibility though.. But I decided to just fly instead of tweaking around now  Hendrik Horeis

April 23, 201610 yr I still have problems even with the new ASN beta and clouds at 0.5. Decided to revert back to the ASN version prior to 5921, which was working great for me. However even that didn't help. Something about that update really messed things up in my sim. Flights start smooth but end choppy as hell. If I close ASN, all is smooth again. Yeah, I kinda have the same problem. Usually my flights start just fine, but over time in the right weather conditions, performance really falls off. I only have this issue in P3D v3.2. Used older versions and FSX with ASN for a long while and never had this issue. Let me guess.... you want 64bit. Josh Daniels-Johannson
April 24, 201610 yr Moderator LM made some changes internally that has affected the weather depiction. I know that the various weather developers are working on resolutions. I am hoping that LM themselves will make changes to resolve these issues. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
April 24, 201610 yr The thing is P3Dv3.2 was very smooth for me with ASN and REX soft clouds before that update. I haven't made any other changes to the sim. I uninstalled ASN, and then installed the previous version that was working just fine, but that didn't help, which makes me wonder if that update messed up something in P3D. April 25, 201610 yr At the moment I am not getting an issues with frame drops in weather (cloud) settings. I carried out a full re-install of P3D ver 3.23 about a month back, cleared out old versions of FSX and P3D. Run the new install for a few days in default state then installed ASN v 5921, then installed GEP3D, another few days, installed UTX (usa & Europe). just recently install some addon airplanes. No NI or NCP settings altered, no tweaks in Prepar3D.cfg file except for an AM value. Before the re-install I was having problems with small stutters and blurrier ground textures. I haven't at this stage installed any ORBX and REX. So at the moment running the sim with the default cloud textures I get frame rates are 29-30. bob
