Hopefully, BEV will raise to the top soon...StephenBirdsEyeViewDeveloper

>It was just sheer good fortune that I installed>BEV on my non-music studio rig that I use for simming as I>have a copy of FS in a `clean` default condition on my music>computer for comparison purposes. Nothing in the literature>let me know that `unauthorised` software would be installed>with my copy of BEV. I'm running a full ProTools system among other audio apps on the same machine I run FS on and have never experienced any problems related to .NET...

Plus another 48 bucks (60 Australian dollars) for Europe, Australia and goodness knows how many more 48 bucks for other regions needed to replace the default textures that are included in an 80 buck (or therabouts) sim. For simmers who have money to burn no problem but for the rest, if these new textures are as irresistable as they seem to be, some difficult choices on what season to fly in and where.Bruceb

>Why did they release summer textures in the middle of Fall? I>don't get that. I'll pass until the Fall textures come out.>>ricardoRicardo...just timeing... I started on these textures waaaayyyyyy back when and naturally I used the summer textures to work on. At first this was for me privately, but with some encouragement I decided to take the textures public. I really didn't think it would take this long to get them up and posted, but with the building of a website, planning a business, and a few setbacks summer textures were a bit longer in getting to release stage than I had originally anticipated. I really did thing Fall would be done before actual fall arrived. Anyway...the rest of the seasons will be a snap compared to summer, in that the actual texture itself is already built and now I just need to paint them. Fall is going to be released very, very soon, with winter coming shortly after. STAY TUNED!StephenBirdsEyeViewDeveloper

>I just tested it out. I'm happy with what I got for 12>bucks. The textures are much more realistic IMO. There is a>nice little config tool as well. I was a computer tech on AWACS for a few years myself...still doing the 90 day rotations? :-)And thank you for the praise, greatly appreciated.StephenBirdsEyeViewDeveloper

> Thanks Jeff. I've gotten the install folder sorted but>I'm still really PO'd about the NET Framework issue.>>Doug>>Edited because I can't spelDoug, Head on over to our forum and you'll see a thread on the subject of the Net Framework, probably won't change your mind, but koorby one of our BTs is offering a money back guarantee to anybody who can actually show proof that the Net framework is a memory HOG or causes any other serious issues.StephenBirdsEyeViewDeveloper

>Yes, everyone beware...this product installs MS's net>framework 1.1 into your computer system! I for one will not>purchase this because of that. I don't want MS's net framework>installed just to run one app.>Personally, I'm not sure what the issue is with net framework, simply because you'd get pretty much the same code if the programmer had to set up his own routines. net framework, just makes it easier on the programmer in that many of the routines he would have to write are already done. With that said, (I'm repeating myself here), head on over to our Forum as we have a thread there with this much debated topic, and Koorby is offering money back guarantee to anyone who can prove that net framework is a memory hog or causes any serious issues.StephenBirdsEyeViewDeveloper

>Thanks Jeff...>>>Btw...can you keep your existing runway textures? (I use the>Airport Environment Upgrade 7 textures by Chris Arrington)Good question and a definite YES.Your pre-BEV textures are placed in a back up folder and although BEV will place it's base runway texture in your texture folder upon installation, all you have to do is run the BEV Configurator, find the runways in the texture set drop down, and then click on FS9 default...waaa laaa your Airport Environment Upgrade 7 runway texture is put back into your fs9 texture folder.StephenBirdsEyeViewDeveloper

> Good move. I don't want it either. I've tried to>uninstall it and the uninstaller won't run. I'm going to try a>manual uninstall per the MS support info. The BEV installer>didn't create a restore point prior to running the NET>Framework install so I'll have to go back to yesterday's data>if all else fails. This is a really, really bad decision by>the BEV folks.>>DougActually Doug, all you need to do is uninstall BEV and the net framework is gone.Sorry your so disappointed by our decision, but as pointed out...it really isn't that big of a deal. If you have reference to anything that is written by a technical reviewer that reflects your concerns please post it in our forum.StephenBirdsEyeViewDeveloper

>Think theres a fix already for the custon selection on their>website if you mean the configurator issue.>>I believe that the fall textures will be out in 2-3weeks I>think>>CraigYEP!StephenBirdsEyeViewDeveloper

>I will not buy it, read this:>>http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...?TID=13871&PN=1If you're referring to SailorMoons comments, you'll notice it was pulled simply because it's pure non-sense. I'd suggest chatting about any concerns you might have with us over at our BEV Forum. We'll be more than happy to provide you with the facts...not the fiction.StephenBirdsEyeViewDeveloper

>"It was worth the 12 bucks to me just to get rid of the>Leopard spotted textures in the desert. ">>Look for 2004_wood_desert.zip in the avsim file library. It>does just that and for free.>But I agree, it's worth it for the rest of the improvements.>Still, the total cost for all seasons would be $60 (summer,>fall, winter, hard winter, spring at $12 each) which isn't>that cheap. I'll probably only buy fall and summer though>since that's when I prefer to fly.Actually it's all season for $48.00... based on the FS9 texture sets of Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Hard Winter...So...5x12 = $60 - $12 = $48.00.We've had a pricing policy posted for sometime now that explains, if you purchase any four seasons, you get a 5th one FREE! And it doesn't matter which season you purchase and which season you get for free!StephenBirdsEyeViewDeveloper

>There is nothing important in that thread. Just a rant by a>disgrunted person who has not tried the product and who has a>particularly strong grevience with the .NET framework for>reasons that are hard to figure out but obviously he feels>strongly about.>>I downloaded the product in the first hour and have flown 2X>with it and poked around in the documentation and with the>configurator. He>was also patient with a couple of folks who were unnecessarily>insulting.>>The product itself didn't completely revolutionize my world>but it was worth EVERY penny and is all that the developers>said it would be. It is staying on my machine and I'm will>pick up the remining volumes. Run, do no walk, to download it.>>Delays led to the release of summer textures after summer had>passed, which is pretty frustrating but understandable. They>plan to be close to caught up in a couple of weeks.>>It is also a nice story: A hobbyist who decided to turn his>many hours of work into a small income for himself. I wish him>well.I appreciate your comments and thank you for your support. I've been a FS enthusiast for many, many years and have been around the flak that usually comes with any new release. Overall I'm very pleased by the postive reactions to BEV as it really has accomplished what I set out to do and that is FS a notch more realistic. Again, thank you...StephenBirdsEyeViewDeveloper
