October 8, 200520 yr No install it to whatever directory you want? It really isn't difficult to use.Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
October 8, 200520 yr It's all about what city textures you set, there is a quite a few as well. This program has a powerful configuration tool. Much too many textures to choose from to ever see them all. I loaded City with Palm trees for example for my large urban area, since I fly mostly US Southwest, like Las Vegas, and Southern California and what not.Check out the great water textures,Also, I'm not happy with my new runway texture, so all I have to do is pick a new one from the 11 or so choices! And the last pic is Los Angeles, CA. Had to reduce the quality on the last one for upload to Avsim, sorry.Jeffhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/129314.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/129315.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/129322.jpg Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
October 8, 200520 yr Thanks Jeff. I've gotten the install folder sorted but I'm still really PO'd about the NET Framework issue.DougEdited because I can't spel Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. October 8, 200520 yr Screenshots from my first flight are here:http://tinyurl.com/cv9frOverall impressions:The textures offer a significant improvement over FS9 default. Suburban areas and forests are very nice. I've only tried the basic install, but the textures seem appropriate for my usual stomping grounds (Pacific Northwest).I'm also impressed with the extra bits, including water textures, river textures, etc. I've tried dozens of different water textures in the past couple of years and the color and detail of BEV water is very satisfactory (none of the glossy effects that I've found in others). The configurator offers extensive options but is easy to use. However, it seems that an error or two snuck into their first release. I am sure these will be remedied in short order, and the errors are very minor (i.e. a missing thumbnail for the autogen options). In short, I feel that BEV is the final piece of the puzzle for VFR nirvana. Combined with FSGenesis mesh and Ultimate Terrain, the experience is uncanny and very close to what I see out of the window when flying to and from the Puget Sound. I'm looking forward to trying other areas of the country.I understand that some people have reservations about the final cost, considering that this is one season for one region. It's not an issue for myself, since I fly in Summer year-round and I typically only fly in North America. For that reason, this is actually just about the best bang for the buck of any add-on I have purchased. At $12, I consider it a steal.
October 8, 200520 yr Yes, everyone beware...this product installs MS's net framework 1.1 into your computer system! I for one will not purchase this because of that. I don't want MS's net framework installed just to run one app. Eric
October 8, 200520 yr Thanks Jeff...Btw...can you keep your existing runway textures? (I use the Airport Environment Upgrade 7 textures by Chris Arrington)
October 8, 200520 yr Please don't fear the MS .net framework! I have both 1.1 and 2.0(beta) running on my system, with no detrimental effects at all. The .net Framework is central to all the latest Microsoft development tools and it's also being adopted in many 3rd party development tools. Believe me-soon you will not be able to run new software without it.
October 8, 200520 yr Good move. I don't want it either. I've tried to uninstall it and the uninstaller won't run. I'm going to try a manual uninstall per the MS support info. The BEV installer didn't create a restore point prior to running the NET Framework install so I'll have to go back to yesterday's data if all else fails. This is a really, really bad decision by the BEV folks.Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. October 8, 200520 yr Without this (.net) program I would not be able to run one of the best programs (freeware) of all time - NASA World Wind. You can be an "idealogue" and refuse to install - at your loss.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB Michael J.

October 8, 200520 yr This is something I'll wait until all seasons are released... The screenshots look great but I couldn't imagine going back to the default after installing the summer textures if I wanted to fly in the fall...Is Hawaii and Alaska included in this package??? If so can someone post some shots... FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
October 8, 200520 yr just installed it and took a flight San Jose, CA to Santa Monica, CAGreat textures, I still see all the summer textures, add UT USA to that which I just installed last night and the game is up to new levels. I hope they release the night textures soon as well as fixing the minor issues with the custom selection. And release fall!!edit: theres a new ini file in their forums to fix the configuration problem. sweet
October 8, 200520 yr Think theres a fix already for the custon selection on their website if you mean the configurator issue.I believe that the fall textures will be out in 2-3weeks I thinkCraig
October 8, 200520 yr What's so bad about net.framework? I think I installed it with another addon some time ago without giving it a second thought at the time.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened."
