P3D taking over by year end

Featured Replies

Ok, I'm curious as to why this thread is still open?  I've detected pointless arguments happening now.  Someone said the word troll and I'd have to agree.

If anything is to be learned is that at some point in time, people will stop upgrading.  Case in point, those who are still committed to FS9.  The numbers will start dropping as the years pass.  Even if we get a true, stable, entertaining, supportive, intelligent 64, 128, 256 bit sim, people will continue to complain, argue, fight over what it still doesn't have, what could be changed and what they really want.

  • The title of this thread is totally misleading - can't stand when people do this to gain attention   The title should read Orbx sales in P3D taking over by years end. FSX still has the highest mark

  • It looks much better and it is much more stable.  That pretty much sums it up.

  • The problem Rich is that some people still believe that P3D is just FSX with a few  bug fixes. They are completely unaware of the significant differences under the hood which make P3D a completely dif

Rob answered the OP very well.. Should close these type of posts once they run their natural course.

We fly what we like to fly, be it fsx or p3d.. just enjoy your sim of choice and leave 'this vs. that' out of the 'community'.. its toxic

This FSX vs P3D debates seems like hair splitting to me. We're flying the same airplanes, with the same flight dynamics, in the same weather, over the same earth/terrain model, between the same airports, and if we so choose, with the same ATC and AI traffic. I'm sure there must be some small differences in the above, but mostly the same.

P3D as I understand it, offers some better performance and visuals, at the expense of compatibility with some unmaintained addons, PMDG's J41, VoxATC and RXP GPS gauges come to mind. What's more important depends on the individual and what they want to do with their sim.

In what must be a couple thousand FSX flights, I can count the OOM's or crashes on one hand. I must be doing something wrong.

For my next build I'm looking forward to choosing between 64 bit sims from DTG or LM, in the meantime FSX does the job and it looks pretty good too, or maybe I'm just deluded.

Cheers and Happy Friday.
