June 19, 20169 yr Hi, I flew from Tbilisi to Bagdad today. No luck with the weather neither at depart nor at arrival - from rain to smog... The thunderstorms look dangerous Waiting for a Airzena Boeing to land Mtatsminda TV tower Finally out of the clouds In Yerevan perhaps the weather would have been fine The Iraqi desert yet Somehow it is a strange feeling to prepare for landing here Smog and crosswind made a nerving approach and landing Finally there - my first visit. Now this is an airport where my AI traffic needs some attention... I hope you like the pictures. Regards, Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
June 19, 20169 yr Great shots. Love that crosswind approach! June 19, 20169 yr Love that crosswind approach! +1 Great trip, Harald. I also like the shot of the 2D panel. Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080
June 19, 20169 yr Author Thanks gentlemen for your comments. Bernd, the shot is actually one of the VC. The 2d panel looks this way: Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
June 19, 20169 yr Wow, thanks Harald. I didn't know that the VC is that good, that's why I suspected it must be the 2D panel. I'd better dump my 114 and switch to your 134. Naaaaa   Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080
June 19, 20169 yr Author Bernd, I think your hangar has room for two Tupolevs? However, there is a FSX version of this 134 but - it seems to have some glitches (it seems also that there are some inofficial correction packs out) and - I don't know if it works with P3D. Anyway, the 104 would be interesting to test, too... Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
June 20, 20169 yr Nice shots. I just bought that Bagdad scenery yesterday. I figured I could fly airlines there or heavy military planes like the C-17.
June 20, 20169 yr Finally there - my first visit. Now this is an airport where my AI traffic needs some attention... Great stuff Harald. I really enjoy following along. Bagdad is another of those airports that has a new ICAO identity (now ORBI, was ORBS) so you will have to watch that with your AI. If you use the ORBI identity for the scenery (which is pretty good incidentally, you will have to do something with the stock ORBS in AP959200. Cheers, Greg
June 20, 20169 yr Author Thanks Joseph, HLJames, Greg and Nebojsa for your comments! you will have to do something with the stock ORBS in AP959200 Greg, the ORBS -> ORBI conversion did indeed make some problems. I use the new ORBI code for my traffic for years now. So my first thing after installing it was changing the code to ORBI. While I had my traffic back at Bagdad, I recognized taxiway signs of the stock airport in the middle of the runway. I checked the new afcad - the exclude polygon excluded all but taxiway signs (and there seem to be more glitches within the afcad). So this was corrected quickly, too. There are still some problems with this scenery, such as unvisible objects the plane crashes at. Now I'm about removing the ORBS entry. Unfortunately, I only know one method: Saving all airports from AP959200.bgl (with exception of ORBS of course) as single airports and then deacticating the whole file. Is there a better method? Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
June 20, 20169 yr Harald, the method you described is the same way I remove the outdated stock airports when the identities change. As it happened, I was doing just that last evening with Pristina airport (now BKPR, was LYPR). I think another way of doing it is to create an empty airport using the original identity but using AFCAD or similar to eliminate all content. If the new airport doesn't have photo ground tiles then you risk having an offset grass underlay to the airport. Greg

Anyway, the 104 would be interesting to test, too... Hi Harald, I have tried the 134 FSX version, but everytime I want to load it into my P3D, I get a CTD. The 104 and 124 work, but both come without a VC and I am not a big fan of flying with the 2D panel only. But I also have the 154, which works quite nicely and which has a good VC. And if I really want to go fast, I have the alphasim 160. On top I have a couple of ex-FS9 Ilyuschins and Antonovs, which work in P3D. So all in all my choice of Russian planes is not too bad  Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080
June 20, 20169 yr Would ILS inspector not help with the ICAO renaming etc? I note there's an option in the program to do so. I'm going to be flying to Johannesburg soon (sim-only I'm afraid!). O R Tambo's ICAO has changed from FAJS TO FAOR. Sorry if it's slightly off-topic, but kind of relevant.
