Hi norman, for the past 45 minutes, ive read every post figuring out what the #### was going on...Looks like i posted that before i came to your revised policy...I have a question though, does this mean that you can paint any livery you want, just not upload to a public site? Thanks bro, and best of luck with the tripple seven! :-beerchug If i understand this new policy before the night is over, and its infact, a little less restraining, i might be getting this aircraft after all.. I really like the 777 series, especially a good payware model with all the modern technology integrated into FS! Take it easy bro, and thanks for responding! :-wave

The money is being made for the time spent on the paint itself. Why is this such an issue? It's insulting reading some of the things spouted on this thread. Is EVERYBODY thinking about what they are saying before they post it? Why do so many people expect the works of a developer go unpaid? They have provided a way to customize the aircraft to suit each individuals needs/wants. And we complain. If they included every repaint they offer in the model with no choice, but with them reflected in the cost, we would complain. If they "washed their hands of it" and gave it away for free, we would trounce all over it like the greedy sloths we are, and most not even drop a line of thank you. No, we would more likely discover an error by doing something stupid and then trash them on a forum. For pity sake people wake up!You want to gripe about the idea of paying for the paint? Then look at it this way: Buy the model and add your paints, add the costs and consider it on the whole. DUH!!And if THAT is too much for your bitty heads, then DON'T BUY IT!!!Just absolutely DO NOT support a company that would make such a catastrophic decision! This has never been a copyright issue, why make it so? It is neanderthal thinking like this that ruins the entire hobby for everyone. And no, this post is not directed at anyone in particular. But if it offends, then step back and wonder WHY it offends before flaming :-lolI'm going to go settle down now...-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying! The problem isn't paying for a repaint, at least to me. The problem is stating other people cannot do the same repaint that PSS is charging for. that right there is the problem, but thankfully it was taken out of the requirements.

Chase,>I have a question though, does this mean that you can paint>any livery you want, just not upload to a public site?Thats the basics.Ultimately we provide the paint kit to let the many talented or enthusiastic painters do their own thing. Yes we have a business model that differs from others but don't force anybody to do anything, least of all buy our repaints. By offering the hosting of the repaints it makes it much easier for the people that want the repaints (our customers) to find them and is our way of giving a little bit more back to the community. If its good technology you seek, then I think you won't find too many with a built in weather radar integrated into the navigation display, or electronic checklists amongst many other features.

so we can create any repaint we want, and pss will host the repaint for free, not forcing any one to purchase the commercial paint?i guess im trying to ask that a freeware artist will create a livery, he send it to pss, and they upload it for free and they also offer it to the community free of charge, as freeware?i like the sound of this one much better if i have it correct.. :)

YES! That was a problem, but thankfully that is not the case now.-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying! The ONLY exception is if we are offering a commercial repaint of XYZ airlines and a freeware painter wants us to host their version of XYZ which naturally we can't do.

are they then allowed to upload the file to another site? for example, avsim?i like this alot better, i mainly only want 1 livery for the 777, and thats the COA for the 200 series.. i might have to get this one.. and for less than 30USD, sounds like a good deal... Will the discounts be removed after the release?

Speak your mind Adam. Please. Do us all a favor and speak it. :-lol-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying! I still don't understand why PSS charges for real airline repaints and doesn't do like PMDG... I understand the part of the artist spending time doing the job, fine. I agree with that no problem. However, stop telling us that you spent another night eating your diner at your computer. That's your choice so don't make it sound like we force you to do it.What I would like to know is if PSS has authorization from each airline to use their logo and then charge the general public for it. In that case they would probably have to pay royalties on their profit to each airline and I can't possibly see PSS do that for each airline they have listed on their site...

You know what, even though PSS is our competitor now, I'm going to answer this one for them when I get home tonight, and I might not be very nice either. Cya in a few hours.

Don't be too harsh...I am not here to create problems or look for a fight, I don't have time for that. What I meant to say is that I think it is unfair that PSS charges on top of the base package, that's all.And I want to know if what they do is legal by charging for those amd nothing more.I think there attitude forces a black market and that would be detrimental to them.

Actually, you can create whatever you want...but if it is one that they already created; then it cannot be uploaded or will not be hosted by them. Because it will be in competition with what they are selling. I still don't necessarily agree with this method, I do respect it. If and when the plane comes out, and meets my own personal expectations then I'll buy the model I want and the liveries that I fly. I'm glad Norman re-worded the original statement...I still prefer a few bucks more for everything...but change is always a constant. ;-)Edit: because after 3 trys I can't seem to spell the word 'personal' :-0
