December 24, 200520 yr Moderator >regarding the slow performanve problem in 2D:>The Mainpanel uses a very small bitmap as background (1x1>Pixel in size), as a unhappy owner of the FT 737 PIC i just>used their background bitmap for testing and put this instead>of the original one in the panel.cfg in section window01.>Before that change i got 6 fps in 2d and around 20 fps in VC,>after that change i get 15-18 fps in 2d no change in VC.You too, huh? That has to be the absolute strangest panel.cfg file I've ever seen... One can only conclude that they set it up using notepad, since it is so far out of the SDK standards...The reason for the poor 2d performance is because they are forcing FS9 to "rescale everything on the fly," instead of providing a pre-scaled base line for a typical screen resolution (such as 1024x968). With the "background bitmap" set to only 1x1, FS9 must calculate the position of literally billions of pixels before display... :-bang You don't actually need any special texture for the main window, only one that is a reasonable size and is fully transparent (black: 0,0,0), since the main panel bitmap is actually a full screen width gauge!Having myself reworked the 2d part of the panel.cfg, I too see a 400% improvement in average fps, but more importantly, the variance has dropped from a dismal 20% to a mere 3%... ;) Fr. December 24, 200520 yr Can anybody here assist us non PC folks who don't understand anything about SDKs, scales, pixels, etc., fix this fps issue? What can we get and from where to fix the appalling 2-D performance?Or can you email a fix to me that I can stick in the relevant (panel?) folder at [email protected] ? Anything further much appreciated, thanks. Thanks!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
December 24, 200520 yr Moderator Sometime tomorrow after the "excitement and business" has settled down, I'll package up my personal panel.cfg changes and make 'em available to everyone.Other than this issue, this is a magnificent freeware package! Kudos to the four team members for great work. The manual itself is a work of art! ;) Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

December 24, 200520 yr "This question has been posted previously but just to remind you: Did anybody found those shortcuts to different panels (other than going through the FS menu)?"You can use the "Ctrl" key plus a number on your keyboard, such as Ctrl + 1, or Crtl +2 etc.. Hope this helps..

December 24, 200520 yr Correction to my last post: The key is actually the "Shift" key NOT the "Ctrl" key.
December 24, 200520 yr "Maybe they are D U C K ing for cover? Let's get some duct tape, that will fix'em ;P"No offence at all, Randy, but the iFly team deserve a lot more respect for what they developed and published for free instead of what you just said, even if you only meant to be light-hearted. Joking is OK, but even joking has its limits and its conditions.I'll make my point as clear and short as possible by saying this: Considering the gargantuan amount of effort that went into this amazing piece of freeware, imagine yourself in the place of Jiangwei Shen, the lead developer of the iFly development team, and imagine how you would feel deep inside after reading the same sarcastic reply that you just wrote above from some person in an MSFS forum????With all due respect to you and to PMDG, keep in mind that you're only a beta-tester in PMDG and not a developer, and also keep in mind how many bugs were available in the PMDG 747-400 in its V 1.00 release. As far as I know, two patches have been released for the PMDG 747-400. Have you forgotten all about that????Sadly, it's becoming a sad habit for people around the Avsim forums to slam or bash a certain developer without giving the least bit of thought about how much work went into a certain developer's product....Cheers,
December 24, 200520 yr Bill,I just wanted to add that with my Ati card, I have absolutely no problem with either panel (2D or VC).I am getting my usual 20-25 fps on both. The problem could be graphics card dependant I suppose. John
December 25, 200520 yr Me too Earl,Maybe the designer will look into this problem eh?Dave T. .........On the Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/ Dave Taylor

December 26, 200520 yr Anyone having a problem getting #1 engine to light off. I've tried pretty much everything with no joy. Engines 2,3 and 4 start without a problem, but not #1.

Engines 2,3 and 4>start without a problem, but not #1.Hi,I have this problem too. But it appears when there is no fuel in center wing tank. So there is no solution actually.Possibly in the next version.Bizzzut.
