January 7, 200620 yr Has anyone experienced problems using TrackIR and trying to turn knobs or flick switches? Even a minute move of the head and I start clicking all over the place. I tried editing the 6 DOF by moving the 2 dots either side of the middle dot level, to create a kind of 'dead zone'. But that didn't help much to solve the problem. Any ideas?John.

I tried editing the 6>DOF by moving the 2 dots either side of the middle dot level,>to create a kind of 'dead zone'. But that didn't help much to>solve the problem. Any ideas?>>John. I have had the track IR for about a year now. In the begining I was really disappointed with the way it worked and tweaked and tweaked the settings and at one point I was going to sell it for about 1/2 of what I paid for it. At that point, they came out with some new software for it and it was much better, Prior to that, the slightest movement of your head would cause it to jump all over the place or lock facing down or up, requiring recentering all the time. Now that I have spent months getting the settings to where I want them, I leave the profile settings alone. As far as small switches like the Auto/throttle switch in the Level /D 767 for instance, it is usally like playing "pin the tail on the donkey". Unless you hold your head like you have it in a neck brace, while trying to flick a small switch, I would find that switching back to 2D was the only reliable way to turn off the A/T with your mouse on short final. What I did to improve that situation was to program one of my yoke buttons using FSUIPC ( registered version) to pause the Track IR using the F11 hotkey, in other words pressing the yoke button toggles F11 ( or any key you tell Track IR you want to use as pause, the default is F11). Now when I get ready to flick the A/T switch or any other switch that is small, I hit the yoke button while I am looking at the switch and everything holds steady while I easily flip the switch. Then I hit the yoke button again to resume the normal Track IR functioning.
January 7, 200620 yr Try using the F8 hot-key first to reduce the sensitivity of TrackIR to head movements, then operate the knob or switch, and finally use F8 again to toggle back to normal sensitivity. Not exactly as real as it gets, but it works for me.Dugald
January 7, 200620 yr I just got Track IR 4 and just finished messing with it and all I will say is it is the best piece of hardware I have bought for FS in a long time!!! Man is it cool! Eric
January 7, 200620 yr I have the 'pause' and 'centering' buttons mapped to my CH yoke. What I usually do is tilt forward to get a closer look then hit pause, adjust whatever knob then unpause, it's become quiet natural for me to do it this way and it saves alot of bobbing around :-)cheersGreg http://www.fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpg
January 7, 200620 yr can anyone of you tell me is this a big problem when you are pressing the buttons on the FMC as well?like programming the FMC for the route or pressing the PROG page or DESCEND page and getting infor is that a problem? I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
January 8, 200620 yr steady head or stopping TIR with a button mapped to the JS, not a problem pushing buttons on the FMC (or any knobs) on PMDG744.I would disable the 'precision' mode in TIR SW profile when using FS9 and just play w/ the sensitivity curves to get it working.PatAMD A64 4000+ @ 2.6GHz, Zalman7700Cu cooler, Corsair XMS 1GB DDR, LTK6800GT-OC, Asus A8V MoBo, WDRaptor10KrpmHDD, TrackIR4, CH FSYoke + TQ, XP-hsp2 R9-9950X3D 32G | RTX5090 | 3T m.2 | Win11 | vkb-gf ultimate & pedals | virpil cm3 throttle | tm boeing yoke | pimax super uw | DCS
January 9, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi,What would be really cool is if the TrackIR software would look at the mouse in an optional "Automatic pause on click" feature. Then unpause a configurable amount of seconds after (like 3 for default). The VC clicking is the only thing I haven't yet been able to get used to.. the use of the pause hotkey (or the keyboard at all) is a bit cumbersome especially during those fun IFR approach phases. Beyond that little annoyance, this product is wonderful! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 9, 200620 yr Another solution of course is to get hardware that you can use to handle those functions, eg Goflight, then you use your fingers to turn knobs! Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
January 9, 200620 yr That is true, but personally I find the greatest use for TrackIR when flying GA planes and in these you don't need to turn as many knobs as eg in the PMDG 747. So the Goflight GF-MCP satisfies all my knob turning needs and if I fly the Ceranado 182 I never have to use the mouse for any knob or button! Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
January 9, 200620 yr I fly the PMDG ( 73X and the 744 ) and LDS 763 with TrackIR. I've been using TrackIR for about a year and a few months now. I can honestly say it takes practice, but there are a few switches / knobs in the LDS that require the pause button. I, like many others, have mapped the pause and center key to my CH Yoke ( the right toggle on the base ). When I need to increase/decrease the range on the Navigation Display I pause it because that knob has a very small click spot.In the PMDG's I pause the TIR as well to program the FMC. Another time I pause it is while sitting at cruise with the autopilot on, I'll pause it with all the major gauges in view, so typically I can keep an eye on the PFD, ND, upper and lower EICAS. This way I can monitor everything without having to keep my head still.
January 9, 200620 yr I have a Logitech laser mouse and it has scroll up/down buttons for Internet Explorer right near where the thumb is. I just tried mapping Pause to the scroll down and it worked. Now pausing and un-pausing is quite simple and fast.John.
January 9, 200620 yr I have mapped the Pause and Precision key to my Jetliner Yoke. I mapped the Prescision key over the center key as hitting that in lieu of hitting pause allows me to use the mouse for pretty much everything in VC. A trick I have come up with as well is to just lean in on what your trying to click on. Makes it easier to do. Eric
January 12, 200620 yr You know I've had the same problem as well. I just came up with an idea (that if we can get Natural Point to do it) would really help.I've been playing a flight simulation of the 747 alot lately. The simulation contains many switch panels above and to the sides, which require you to twist you head in odd ways and then hold it steady while you flip switches and push buttons. The idea I had was for Track IR to allow you to save ~8 preset head positions/orientations. Then when you recall the position via a keypress or two, the virtual head rotates from the current orientation to the recall position (not jumps, smoothly rotates). Pressing the key again, smoothly returns to the current TrackIR orientation.
