September 13, 201213 yr I would like to offer a service... Who would like to make use of usenet download? And which usenet newsgroup would you recommend? I have alt.binaries.flightsims in mind but I have no idea if I may post there... I've tried to upload a video I made (look for filename "fsx 2012-06-10 20-36-41-96.mkv") and that seemed to work nicely. Ofcourse it is only 35Mb and not +1,2Gb :-D Regards, Vital Vanbeginne
September 13, 201213 yr So sharing those links isn't allowed? This is correct. Many torrent sites are unsafe and are places where you can download illegal programs, music, and videos. We're not here to promote sites that are involved in illegal activities. If you want to mess around with torrent sites, please do it somewhere else other than this forum. Just be warned that these sites are capable of putting malicious malware and computer viruses into your system without your knowledge (unless you have a great anti-virus program running). Let's stop talking about torrents and discussing legal places such as some of the free storage hosts. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! September 14, 201213 yr I still think we are seeing a more or less big misconception here. A torrent link isn't a 'torrent site' nor does it lead to any. A torrent link to e.g. the NL2000 freeware won't lead the user to any site, but, when injected into a BitTorrent program, will start a download of that freeware. Same goes for a torrent link to the Belgium 2012 freeware. That system isn't illegal by design, same as emails or http links aren't illegal by design. I don't understand where that 'torrent equals illegal' arises from and, same as some other posters, I don't see anything in the Avsim TOS forbidding to share freeware with the approval of the author. If some folks load it to hosters or create torrents, it's actually a gain for the community as the author's links are dead now. :( Please correct me if I'm wrong. September 14, 201213 yr Yeah, clearly a lot of misinformation here and a severe lack of understanding about how these things work. Regardless, it seems some are bent on enforcing rules that don't exist to support an idea that isn't even factual. Hopefully these files will find a better home though so that the masses can enjoy it. Sadly I have not had that pleasure. - Aaron
September 14, 201213 yr I've just looked at Dropbox. But their free account is at 2gb, which isn't enough for Belgium 2012. I don't trust that 'up to' term in their description.
September 14, 201213 yr File Dropper perhaps? http://www.filedropper.com/ EDIT: Bah, it's only free for 7 days. - Aaron
September 14, 201213 yr I still think we are seeing a more or less big misconception here. Amen, CoolP. Your explanation is spot on. In fact, bands like Nine Inch Nails have released an album for free, via Torrents... 100% LEGAL. And so have others. Too bad there is so much misunderstanding.

September 14, 201213 yr As soon as I have the files, I will try to post magnet links. Martin, lets play fair with the mods and leave the links out until they had a chance to clear the current confusion on the TOS and torrent usage up. This is just to avoid trouble and frustration. Thanks to Gerard, folks now have 30 more days to load via http.
September 14, 201213 yr Okay guys, You are more right than I was. In principle a torrent link will be judged by the content, so we withdraw our blanket disallowance. Go ahead. Kind regards,
