March 25, 200620 yr I have been waiting for ever to be able to pull Simflyers KEWR off my system. Great scenery for its time but in modern FS9 terms it is a real FPS dog. Well ImagineSime just released there brand new KEWR this morning. I can not wait for a new KEWR to fly into.Go get it folks,-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
March 25, 200620 yr Hey Paul,I would be very interested in hearing your impressions of this new scenery. Undoubtedly, it will be vastly superior to Simflyers' but I'd like to get an idea of how smooth it is, since I am not much of an FPS hound. But it does have to be smooth, and of course, I wanna hear all about the eye-candy!Thanks,ChuckC-130E/H/H1 Flight EngineerDyess AFB, TXAMD 64 3700+ASUS A8V Deluxe 1.0 gig DDR400 Corsair TwinX 3200XLC2ProWD 120 gig HDDWD 80 gig HDDTwin WD 160 gig SATA HDDsSB Audigy 2ATI Radeon X850 Pro 256CH Products USB Yoke, Pedals, Throttle QuadBelkin Nostromo n52Windows XP Pro SP2 Chuck Blake Intel Q9450 CPU ASUS P5E64 WS Evolution Mobo 2.0 gig Corsair DDR3 1800 TWIN3X20481800C7DFIN WD 750 gig HDD SB Audigy 2 XFX Nvidia 9800-GX2 Black Edition CoolerMaster UCP Series 1100w PSU CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000 Case Sharp LC32GP3UB 32" HD LCD Dell 2405 24" Widescreen LCD CH Products USB Yoke, Pedals, Throttle Quad Windows XP Pro SP3
March 25, 200620 yr I find it to be great scenery although a patch is needed for the main terminals (Continental side) area. If you get close to these terminals in any way you'll get a building crash. It's very very bad as you could get a building crash while taxing on the taxi way in front of the terminals... March 25, 200620 yr The building crash issue has been fixed. A new .bgl file corrects it and should be on the site soon in patch form.Regards,Joe Regards, Joe Esposito
March 25, 200620 yr Hey Chuck, trying to figure something out with UTE right now so haven't even installed yet. I will definitely report back though... I trust Dillon though so if he can give it a thumbs up I am sure I will not be dissapointed, And sounds like they got their issue resolved as well so I am excited,-PaulLiquid CooledAMD 4000 San Diego2 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2Dual 7800 GTX 24 inch widescreen dual 19 inch LCDRaid-0 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
March 25, 200620 yr Isn't it the very same designer, Cal Lewin, that has made both versions? Mr. Lewin was the main designer for SimFlyers before he formed his own company, Imagine Simulations. How are the framerates with full AI on the new version?
March 25, 200620 yr It astounds me that Imaginesim always presents such awful looking preview screenshots, full of jaggies and moire patterns and other artifacts. Surely their products deserves better, or what? Turn up the AA and AF guys!-
March 25, 200620 yr >It astounds me that Imaginesim always presents such awful>looking preview screenshots, full of jaggies and moire>patterns and other artifacts. Yeah, they post their screenshots as if trying to say "look how bad it looks, don't buy it". Though I never bought their airports from what I heard it falls well short of quality of what say FlyTampa offers.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/for...argo_hauler.gifhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg Michael J.
March 25, 200620 yr #1. I really hope it is the same guy as Simflyers, I had heard that but I am not sure. Simflyers KEWR was a great scenery for its day but it was made years and years ago. If you can incorporate that quality with newer techniques, I am all for it.# 2. FPS is not a fair question in KEWR. If you load up default scenery and an advanced heavy, go look at your memory usage. New York and KEWR is one of the most intensive areas for all of FS. You can't expect "typical" FPS in KEWR with or without add on scenery :)#3. I could not agree more on the screenies. Wazzup with that? They host their own site as well so there is no resolution restriction like here in the forums. Give me a full 1280*1024 screenie :) I don't think it is AA and AF I think it is the compression of the image...-PaulLiquid CooledAMD 4000 San Diego2 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2Dual 7800 GTX 24 inch widescreen dual 19 inch LCDRaid-0 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
March 25, 200620 yr Author oooofff. The frames are brutal. I am getting 4-6 with the PMDG 744F(patched) a P4 3.0 ATI 9800pro and a gig and a half of ram. I had about 10 with the default cessna. I wondered about this one since Fly Tampa abandoned LGA because they couldnt get decent frames due to the massive amount of objects in the NYC area. The textures of Imagine sim really seem bright. I like the Fly Tampa and Flight Scenery textures, they seem "warmer". Anyway for me not much difference over the old Simflyers KEWR as far as frame rates. I am a little disappointed. Maybe some tweaking will get it working alittle better. Andrew

New York and KEWR is one of the most intensive areas>for all of FS. You can't expect "typical" FPS in KEWR with or>without add on scenery :)FPS or smoothness is always a fair question when dealing with an airport. I suspect, judging by the answers here, that this again a "no sale" for me. Poor jaggie screenshots, horrible ground textures, and poor framerates again for an Imagine Sim Airport (read, the previous SimFlyers main designer). I appreciate Mr. Lewins efforts to crank out airports that are huge improvements over the default, but he still hasn't improved his texturing skills, or his design techniques for truely improved framerates from his 2002 releases. In a world with Fly Tampa, Flight Scenery and Cloud 9, and fanstastic freeware from Shez and other designers, as much as I would like to, I just can't support this developer. Harsh I know, but I am frustrated that his design technique can't take it to the next level.
March 25, 200620 yr Andrew,Can you do me a favor, I have not had time to install yet. Still working my UTE issue :) You can see my system specs below and I use KEWR as my home airport so I know what to expect in that area as far as my boxes go. I want to see if it is just me. Disable the scenery real quick go back in with the PMDG 744P and F at default KEWR and let me know what your FPS are. You can see my specs below and my experience is that with even the default scenery you are probably going to get mid-teens for FPS maybe 20 or so if the weather is right. I am guess IS knocks about 10 FPS but what I was trying to say is that in KEWR 10 FPS will CRIPPLE a machine opposed to another location where it can handle that hit...Let me know if you don't mind.Thanks,-PaulLiquid CooledAMD 4000 San Diego2 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2Dual 7800 GTX 24 inch widescreen dual 19 inch LCDRaid-0 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

March 25, 200620 yr Thanks Andrew, kind of what I expected.I just installed and I am right around where I was before. I am about 18-20 FPS with PMDG 744-P, Haven't installed my -F yet ;) So my theory on this is that ImagineSim really doesn't add that much of a hit. NYC and that whole area is just crippling, even with default scenery.Like someone said, that is why others have given up on this region. It is a shame...At least IS mention this on their website and reccomend KEWR only for above average systems. Now, as for not being able to select a starting position because I collide with another object, that is not right...-PaulLiquid CooledAMD 4000 San Diego2 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2Dual 7800 GTX 24 inch widescreen dual 19 inch LCDRaid-0 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
March 25, 200620 yr This scenery is TERRIBLE! Building crashes, BLACK runways, Sharpie drawen "tire skid marks", only gate ramps are those that are animated, where the #### are the others?I can't believe I paid $23 for this garbage.
