March 25, 200620 yr Lance, I have nothing to do with ImagineSim, don't blame me, I was just trying to pass the word. I was as excited about this as anyone.I will give you building crashes, I see the same disable them within FS until there is a patch. Not sure what you mean with the skid marks and I have gates in front of every plane. What are your system specs and your detail settings?-PaulLiquid CooledAMD 4000 San Diego2 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2Dual 7800 GTX 24 inch widescreen dual 19 inch LCDRaid-0 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
March 26, 200620 yr Yeah, after trying some approaches with it, my system turns into an absolute slideshow. I would hate to think what it does to a lesser box.Oh well, I WAS excited...-PaulLiquid CooledAMD 4000 San Diego2 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2Dual 7800 GTX 24 inch widescreen dual 19 inch LCDRaid-0 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
March 26, 200620 yr Author Paul I am going to add it too my laptop which is an absolute top of the line with all the latest equipment if it kills that then I am sunk. I hope I can get a refund since it uses the F1 system. Maybe maybe not. I really dont blame Imagine sim for anything other than the building crashes. The area is just too tough with all the default scenery in the area. What a shame I love flying from Newark. Andrew
March 26, 200620 yr For the record, Shez's sceneries aren't that framerate friendly at all. Burbank was terrible for me and so was/is KLGA... :-roll Sssummer no matter what you and others say, you FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
March 26, 200620 yr "The building crash issue has been fixed. A new .bgl file corrects it and should be on the site soon in patch form."Joe can you point me to where their forum is located (Imaginesim)??? I looked on their website and find no mention of a patch... March 26, 200620 yr I too am disappointed. I have very low frames, the taxiway martkings make bad jaggies and the ground textures are very simple. This just isn't up to current standards as compared to Aerosoft, Simwings or FlyTampa. The price is too high for what it is.
March 26, 200620 yr Im not bagging on Simflyers. KLAS,KPHX, and KBFI (soon to be released) were not done by Mr. Lewin. Thats why the texturing is better and the framerates are nice. They are well done and I own both of them. I get between 25-50 FPS at KBUR and KSNA by Shez (his most recent work) with 100% AI, 100% autogen, Full Max Detail Megascenery, 4XAA etc, etc. The point here is, Mr. Lewin's scenery is payware, and his company, IMHO, produces the lowest quality payware scenery. His modeling skills and rendition of the airports is certainly acceptable, but his texturing of the ground and structures, plus the little details the top of the line designers (including freeware) provide, are cicra FS 2002. Please don't get me wrong, I would like nothing more than for his products to be the best, and I would be one of the first in line to purchase if that were the case. After all, there are so few scenery developers, and we all want the best airports for our hobby!
March 26, 200620 yr This stuff is garbage! To the person who brought up Shez! He makes scenery twice as nice as this for free! This stuff is garbage and I'm asking for a refund!
March 26, 200620 yr Not to mention from the screenies that the skidmarks are on the displaced threshold markings (the arrows pointing to the displaced threshold for the mentally challenged). Are piloting skills really that bad in KEWR?
March 26, 200620 yr >Are piloting skills really that bad in KEWR?:-lol :-lol :-lolGood catch. I checked both runways on the overhead screenshot - both have the same skid mark pattern that starts well before the actual runway threshold. Talking about sloppy and incompetent airport modelling. *:-*Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/for...argo_hauler.gifhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg Michael J.
March 26, 200620 yr The scenery looks pretty good, apart from the skidmarks in the wrong place :-lol Quote from MS Flight Team Lead: "We’ve made some guesses"
March 26, 200620 yr Well:I was really looking forward to the new KEWR having been based there with COA for 4 years. I eagerly retired my old Simflyer's scenery for Imaginesim's.First impressions is that it's just 'Okay' for what it is. If you compare it to the new releases like Aerosoft's EDDF, and any Flytampa's scenery you will be sorely disappointed. Even superior freeware like VHHH and LIMC (et al), are way above this release in terms of quality. The way they textured the airport causes significant jaggies on the taxiways and some terminal textures and I am using 6x AA with adaptive AA. While everything else around the airport is baby smooth, I get jaggies with KEWR.Framerates are absolutely no different that with Simflyers. I have the NY area loaded with every single scenery and it was crippling before I updated the area. With 100% AI, JFK, LGA, Manhattan, 100% Autogen, GE, and full overcast etc I was getting between 14-18fps with Simflyers and get the same with Imaginesim. Also, the ground textures look really subpar in regards to the taxiways. The terminals are hand drawn but are not up to the photorealistic or semi-photorealistic glory of the other leaders in sim design.I am glad to have an updated KEWR with all the correct new gates etc, and I am happy to have my autogen back surrounding KEWR. Still this scenery merits no more than a 'C' in my personal book. Additionally, things like dynamic scenery, smoothly curved taxiways, texture blending, photorealism, moving monorails, dynamic ground vehicles that respond to the aircraft, etc are the status quo for payware at this time. I did my first flight out of the new KEWR to LIMC and I was surprised that LIMC was heads and shoulders better than KEWR when I arrived early this morning! And LIMC is free!At the end of the day, as I said KEWR is okay. If that is an airport you fly from, its probably worth it to update it. But at the end of the day, this is my home airport and my favorite airport in the country because it has lots of sentimental value. Admittedly I am going to be very critical of any KEWR. That said, PERSONALLY, I am a little disappointed (maybe more than a little). By no means is this scenery on par with the newer releases and there is MUCH room for improvement.***Disclaimer: Personal impressions and NOT an offical Avsim sanctioned view or meant to be an Avsim Review of any kind. March 26, 200620 yr Thanks, you just saved me a handful of cash. I bought their KDTW scenery and was disappointed with the low quality of this. Many freeware airports are several rungs above this kind of mediocrity. This is exactly the kind of hard-hitting, no holds barred, truthful type of review that we need more of. Thanks again. ricardo
March 27, 200620 yr Author Well I liked the Denver and New Orleans but I also thought KDTW left alot to be desired and the textures at Newark are awful. Wished I waited but I thought maybe they could get it right. Well what are you gonna do it shows you though that the quality of Fly Tampa and Flight Scenery is hard to come by and not everyone can do it. A real shame they could have put out the St Louis they originally were working on and we could have maybe had a midwest airport (where the frames arent as bad) to fly to. OSS I dont think will ever release a scenery. They have been working on a bunch of sceneries and seem to be getting nowhere. Andrew
March 27, 200620 yr Thanks Mike for this very honest review...my cash will be better spent on good quality scenery like Aerosoft's EDDF, Cloud9's LAX and maybe even FlightSceneries Portland!!!Can't believe your only getting frame rates in the low teens with an AMD64 FX57 processor?
