GTN 750 Flight 1 or reality XP ?

Featured Replies

And F1 can simply release an update to use the newest trainer.

There are plenty of unhappy people on their GTN support site.  Legitimate problems and complaints are being met with......silence.

It appears that F1 has updated their version of the GTN gauge to an old version of the Garmin PC trainer. If reinstalling an out of date of version of the PC trainer (2.3.0.0) disables the RXP gauge, you may have to wait until F1 updates again...

I couldn't decide whether to get the F1 or RXP gauge either. The RXP appears more popular whereas the F1 was configured by the aircraft developers to work in more of my planes. It is very difficult to understand all the GTN/GNS issues discussed on the forums when you have never used any of them. You may recall all the questions I asked about the GNS database updates in another thread. As a result I bought both GTN 750 versions to support both developers and decided not to get any GNSs due to the database issues.

My understanding was that I could install both the RXP and F1 into the sim and use whichever one was developer configured for the VC of each aircraft I wanted to install it in. Based on the quote above it seems that I cannot use both developers GTN gauges on the same computer if the F1 and RXP software are not both based on the same version of the Garmin trainer as neither of each are backward or forward compatible with any versions of the Garmin software. Is this correct?

Using the RXP GUI, it is a very easy task to replace them with the RXP.

Will they work a 100%? That was were the confusion came in. It wasn't clear that all the knobs, buttons, bezel, etc. would look correct and have full functionality with the RXP GTN using the RXP configuration in aircraft developed to use the F1 GTN gauge .

I've, to date havn't found any issues. Probably retro fitted 10 aircraft using the GUI.

Thanks Adrian. I'll look into that route then. The Flight1 gauge is working fine for me so far. I just need to learn the VNAV procedures and limitations. The capabilities of the GTN units are certainly amazing. I would have bought them a long time ago if I was aware of what they could do.

F1 is good. No criticism here. Just Jean Luc is really up on keeping the RXP updated and The RXP is much more intuit, inttu...smarter and he's a very sharp and nice person. 🙂

Agree. Jean-Luc is a pleasure to deal with. If there is any issue with the Reality GTN, he is right onto it with solutions.

I will try out the RXP version, but it sounds like I need to uninstall my current version of the Garmin Trainer and Install the version that RXP uses first. Thanks for the guidance.

Here is my prediction and wish for 2019. Whoever crossfeeds the GTN into the GNS with the garmin trainer will be an instant buy and will own the market. We can hope can we....

If you have a working version of the Flight1 version, the RXP version is not going to offer much that is different.. IMHO..

If you have neither, another story..

I bought both GTN versions at it appeared that one worked in some aircraft and the other version worked in others. Oh well, I am supporting both developers. I was going to buy the GNS units also but due to the old database issue I passed on those.

@Bert Pieke Hi Bert,

There is more to the product than just the trainer. You might want to read this:

You're a seasoned simmer, a veteran in our community, and know your panel.cfg files in and out.

However, our customers really appreciate the Reality XP GUI Panel Assistant, GUI Configuration Panel and the instant gratification of changing device settings live in-sim, without changing aircraft. They also certainly appreciate the extensive list of options available to configure their Reality XP devices, the advanced device installation option (AFMS - Aircraft Flight Manual Supplement), and all the other options to further refine integration of any Reality XP device into any aircraft.

@Ted Striker I thank you for supporting the community and the hobby!

You might want to review the following discussion, there are really good advise and solutions for the GNS DB. I'd say just literally read the recommended post:

I'm switching to RXP, even though I own the F1, because the support is a night and day difference.
