Are members able to turn off email notifications like I did?  If so, maybe his email notification is turned off.

I just sent whamil77 a PM and it seemed to go through.  Let's see if I get a reply back.

He has it set up to receive an e-mail only.  He has a lot of PM's.  It just appears he does not want to receive PM's anymore.  He was last active in October.

Taxiing the C90 GTX King Air

I would like to add to comments on the subject of taxiing this plane made by raymie (https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/527012-c90gtx-modifications-v10/?tab=comments#comment-3773839) and KenG (https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/481525-quick-review-from-a-king-air-pilot-part-1/?tab=comments#comment-3354711).

My Saitek/Logitech quadrant is set up with FSUIPC5 so that 50% travel is flight idle and 10% is ground idle. At the bottom of the power lever travel is a button that activates reverse thrust. I also have DynamicFriction.lua loaded by FSUIPC5.

This setup with other turboprops (such as Flysimware's Mitsubishi Mu-2B-60 and Cessna 441 Conquest II, Milviz's DHC-3T as well as the Carenado Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX) gives reasonably well controlled taxiing in the beta range. The planes get unstuck from the tarmac fairly easily and accelerate slowly. And taxiing below 50% power lever travel does control speed.

The C90 GTX, out of the box, was a major taxiing headache for me. The aircraft did not budge until over 50% Throttle and then quickly accelerated to over 20 KTS. Beta range had no effect. A hefty dose of braking was needed. Rob Barendregt's Groundhandling6 gauge is the only way I have found to taxi. It does a fine job but, of course, its cheating.

I think whamil77's MOD has made significant taxiing improvements to the point where it is possible, paying attention, to do a decent job. Thanks, Bill.

Everything else about this aircraft is grand, including Bert Pieke's GTN integration.

With P3Dv4.4 it probably still isn't satisfactory.  Engine starting and idle settings were significantly changed in 4.4 and I'm working through my mods to correct the issue, but it will take some time.  I don't know why the thrust and fuel flow numbers during start and idle changed so drastically.  Maybe it was the result of the variable fuel flow gain introduced in 4.4, but in any case, it's been a pain.

We love your work, and we definitely appreciate our unofficial Carenado A & P mechanic! 🙂

Does anyone have this mod? From posts in other threads I understand that Bill isn't active in Avsim any longer.
