August 7, 20187 yr Author SLI is also not optimal icw P3D . It works so I can profit from it. But results differ : Same Saved situation : - 1 card : 28 / SLI : 39 - Today first start : SLI : 34 - Today second start ( 5 min later ) : 56 I have read an interview with John V. and he found it not stable enough. For me I just will restart P3D If SLI not kicks in completely .. Everything costs performance by the way. Perhaps unloading more stuff eventually provides consistent fps? If so, if you could test that and prove that, then you could take that to LM and show them the stuff that produces the problem or that the problem exists in your stock setup. In my opinion any kind of system tweak or tool, process manager or whatever in there will scupper test validity as non-stock. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
August 7, 20187 yr Author Beside the 2 Orbx scenery and the 2 airports I don’t know what else I should unload. Never had to back down with lots of scenery and weather programs installed.. August 7, 20187 yr Commercial Member Gerard, If you are stripping back, can you have a look at this page on my forum? What it tries to explain is how we can use VSync (or Locked) to hold back the fps and see that core zero is under 100 %. http://www.codelegend.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=698 So it shows no fps hold and the main core at 100%. Then shows fps held with VSync (can use Locked) adding items to increase the main core percent. I've stopped after adding enough eye candy to bring the main core to about 90%, Then in the last image at the bottom I have increased the draw radius and now the core is at 100% - in fact we don't know what it's trying to do since it can't do more than 100% perhaps it is trying to do maybe 115%. That's a 15% slowdown of the sim in my book. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
August 7, 20187 yr Author Thanks Steve. Very interesting. Up to now I have used a locked franerate and exept for Frankfurt - Amsterdam that always worked fine and smooth, as you can see in my vids... What is your opinion on Locked ? August 7, 20187 yr Commercial Member Locked is much improved in v4. Normally taxed systems do better with VSync=On. Even though locked is more taxing on a system it is worth trying. Remember that if your main task is at 100% then the look ahead can't be maintained and would no longer provide any benefit, performance is worse! Giving Locked a bad name where it is not utilised correctly. Locked makes each next frame for the same period ahead and if it can't maintain a look ahead buffer it can't do that. Let me re-iterate to all interested that this VSync is not controlling on-screen 'tear', with P3D that's up to the desktop. P3D is a desktop window even maximized or game-screened is still a DX viewport in a window, a window with border and caption removed. So what's VSync doing? It is the signal that tells P3D the framerate to 'target'. In other words, since each frame is going to take differing amounts of time P3D needs something better than 'the average framerate of the last few frames' - that's what we get in Unlimited with VSync = Off. VSync = On targets the Monitor Refresh frequency. Checking this out reveals a graph wobbling about the framerate of the monitor. Locked on the other hand is a straight line. Any slight intervention to the flow and the buffer is reduced. The buffer is reduced pretty quickly and on badly set systems can never recover (= worse performance than VSync = On and Unlimited). August 7, 20187 yr I have recently determined that the significant stuttering that I have noticed in a few locations around the UK is being caused by AI planes loading at some point in the distance. What I would like to know is this........would increasing the LOD radius potentially allow me to load these "distant" AI planes at startup, so that I could fly test circuits at airports without having to endure the stuttering? My framerates are not a problem. Here might very well be the answer to your slowdown, GSalden. What if your very "smooth flow" gets disrupted at some point and your very well set performance just never fully "recovers" towards the end of the flight? Possibility, isn't it? But if a 7940x @ 4.8 Ghz ( 14 core processor ) with a very large amount of cache + 32 Gb 3200 MHz CAS 15 + 2x 1080Ti in SLI + 4X SSD SATA 600 can’t handle V4.3 with 4 addons , what do I need ? My locked franerate is just 25. Not even 30. And FPS are not an issue to start with : 56.4 fps at FT Schiphol + TU Netherlands ( Unlimited ) when using 3 screens : And TU Netherlands does not have a memory leak as I can fly over the Netherlands for more than an hour and perhaos loose 5-7% fps. It is an issue when coming from one large heavy scenery ( FTX Germany + AS Frankfurt Pro ) and descending into the other ( TU NL + FT Schiphol ).. But note, the VSync is 30Hz, not 60 like most. My top end FFTF at 5000 and up is 0.40. No blurries. I've changed recently to a frame rate controlled change to FFTF and I think it works better for me. The Vsync makes it smooth -- well, that and the SLI (despite the latter doing nothing for my frame rates, unlike for you). Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz.
