August 10, 20187 yr So, I came home from work this afternoon, had a shower, fired up P3D v3, loaded the PMDG 737-800 NGX......and after a few seconds I noticed that my joystick hat switch controls were not working. At first, I thought that the USB connection to the joystick had not initialised, so I rebooted the PC and tried again. Still no luck. It took me a few more minutes to realise that all of the control settings (keyboard and joystick) had been reset to default!! How the hell does that happen?? August 11, 20187 yr Yes it use to happen to me on ver 3, the best way to avoid going through the complete control set-up again is to 'export' your settings through the controllers menu. bob

August 11, 20187 yr Moderator Sometimes, especially if you switch USB ports all your controls will be reset - Windows uses a unique identifier for each device and that is mapped to your settings. When you change plugs, you change identifier and mappings disappear. Also sometimes things just glitch. Unless you use a program lke FSUIPC to map all your controllers, the settings are contained in a file called STANDARD.XML %APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D\Controls\Standard.xml You can make a backup copy of this file and when your controls get reset, just restore the backup. This requires that you always plug the controller into the same USB port. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
August 11, 20187 yr Or, if you don't change your settings much, go here and make the XML file "read only " in windows. That way P3D can't mess with it.If you do want to make a change, you have to go back and uncheck read only.I never change mine, so it works out fine. Users/appdata/roaming/LM/V3/controls.

August 11, 20187 yr Talking of joystick re-setting itself, can anyone shed light why my Logic3 USB joystick is working incorrectly? In that, if I move the slider fully back,I get the reverse thrust engine cowls displaying on the Airbus A319.If I move the slider forwards, instead of a gradual throttle creep, the aircraft just goes into a full-on mode and I have to use F1 to cut the throttle. Despite setting the slider on the joystick within P3D as the Z axis, I am baffled by this weird behaviour. Windows 7 Pro 64-bit; P3D V4.3.29. FSUIPC but no Joystick axis set . Any help, appreciated.
