P3D V4 Cargo Aircraft Recommendations

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

My friends and I all play on Air Hauler.  We all like to fly our own aircraft, and this has worked out fine until recently.  I have become very interested in joining in on their cargo routes, because they make quite a bit more money than my PAX routes.  Only problem is, they both have the best options for a cargo plane.  One has the 747, and the other the 777.  I'm not afraid of cost.  I just want to see what my options are.  I want them to be avaliable for P3D V4, and have pretty decent range + Cargo capacity.  Also if they had good quality for flight dynamics, VC, etc it would be a nice touch.  I have become a bit of a snob with sim aircraft since I am surrounded by PMDG, Fslabs, and the like.

Thanks,

Andrew

For Cargo, I think the latest PMDG 747-400 is the way to go in terms of cargo capacity

Milviz 737-200 is not bad.

AMD Ryzen 5900X - Asus Crosshair VI Hero - G.Skill 32GB (2x16GB) 3000 C14 DDR4 @ 3600 14-14-15-14-28-42

AMD Red Devil Radeon 6900XT  2700/2112 1125mv - 3 x Iiyama G-Master GB2888UHSU 4k @ 11560x2160

Saitek X-55 Rhino - Track IR5 - Obutto Sim Cockpit + Triple Monitor Stand - Fancy some Techno? https://www.mixcloud.com/dj_bully/

I would also recommend the PMDG 747-400v3, and as far as cargo it will soon be the only version flying in the real world I don't think any US carrier uses them for passenger ops anymore.

Like I stated above, I would like to use something other than a 747, or a 777.  It is such a great plane, but due to the nature of my friend group I won't use it.

Why can't you have the same plane?

Its one of those thing that you can't explain, but it just is.  Just sucks that right now, all of the good possible planes the the Captain Sim 757 200F and 767 are all still in production.

Hello Andrew,

I'm not an Air Hauler user, so, I can't comment on what drives "revenue" through that software. Your question is a little vague to me as I believe the two PMDG options are the only two long haul options for V4 at the moment.

The Milviz 737 (which was awesome in V3) still has a few bugs in V4...not quite ready for prime time in my opinion.

I've just been re-acqainted with the PMDG DC-6(A)...I say that as I wasn't initially a fan due to my penchant for blowing/damaging motors. (Whoda thunk you really do need to read the manuals???) I'll have to admit, I'm really enjoying this aircraft now as I've learned to fly without the AFE...there's a lot to manage if you have a throttle quadrant to manage all power individually. Coupled with the F1 GTN 650, this is an awesome plane, IMHO.

Currently flying mostly the Pacific Northwest up to Alaska with the 6...alot of great payware scenery available for this area.

Anyway...just a though.

I would say it's better you search for a friend group with better nature 😉

If you have the PMDG 747 and don't fly it because of the situation with your friends, you're really doing yourself a disservice.  I'll be darned if I'm spending $130 on the best aircraft addon in flightsim, then not use it because my friends are.

If you don't own it...everything you've heard about it is true, its phenomenal and should be in every simmers' hangar if they are into fidelity and great, large commercial aircraft.

One option may be to  jump on the 747-8F PMDG when its released before your "friends" do and again prevent you from flying the best plane out there.  If they try to convince you that the -8 is the same plane as the -400 and hence you can't fly it with them... then it may be time to get new friends as they are both selfish and woefully lacking in aircraft knowledge.

I use the PMDG DC-6.  It has the cargo capacity of a 737 plus you have all those engines to manage.  Great fun.

Seeing as you can 'convert' any aircraft to cargo, why not the QW 787?

Not the same load as the 74 and 77 but still a good option I would think?

Does the Virtavia C17 work in V4 yet?

And to segway on to that thought...my friend Brian T has painted many 787 freighters, including this excellent renditions:

https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/538446-qualitywings-b787-9-fictional-freighter/

Who knows if we'll eventually see an actual 787 freighter in the future as it's logical that the 787 would follow in the path of its older sisters when she gets into the twilight of her career.  And an actual -F vs a BCF?  Well...unless Boeing ruled that out because of design considerations, who knows what the future may bring.

Does it have to be Boeing?

The Aerosoft DC-8 has a massive MTOW, as does the Just Flight Tri-Star Professional.

I have not flown either one extensively as I cant afford them in air hauler yet, but they are supposed to be decent quality (not study level) aircraft.
