August 21, 200619 yr Anyone contact fileplanet yet?I admit I have not in fear that I might be blacklisted from the beta. I remember reading one person who was told that if selected you should be getting an email any day now. That was like 2 weeks ago!!Fileplanet seems to be doing a wonderful job on the Battlefield 2142 beta. The even have a FAQ up so be know all the facts. Why nothing like this for the FSX beta? I don't know but I don't like it. http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/bf2142Maybe the relationship between fileplanet and Aces went sour? So as an act of good faith maybe tdragger should contact us individually by email and send a copy of the beta by mail. This beta thing started a big fire and the only way to put it out is to actually provide us with the beta.

August 21, 200619 yr I think after the demo has been trashed all over the net they decided that this open beta project is not a good idea. Tdragger said the demo had newer code than the latest beta, so its probably not a good idea to get even more whining.
August 21, 200619 yr Author Whatever the reason for the delay it would be nice to be told some information.
August 21, 200619 yr >Whatever the reason for the delay it would be nice to be told>some information. Not sure at this point if we can even rely on information from credible sources.

The issue isn't incorrect data as much as it a lack of data. I am content with what I have, and in that, I am happy. Patience is all that Fileplanet and Microsoft require from us.

In the nicest possible way I have a few questions for you :1) How long have you been simming ?2) Why do you have an almost manic obsession with this beta ?3) What will you do if you don't get selected ?4) Did you join Avsim just so you could complain about the beta because to me this is how it looks ?5) How old are you ?Have a read through your posts and then have a think. Their is no one else with a similar passion to the one your showing about this beta or your animosity at FilePlanet.I also joined FilePlanet just to get my hands on the Beta. If I do then great if not then ho hum. If the beta never shows I'm not bothered. I'll use my $ worth of Fileplanets rescources then just not rejoin. Put it down to life.To be brutally honest and please don't take this the wrong way this is how it looks to me.You paid Fileplanet and signed up for the beta. Nothing happened so you signed up on Avsim to complain about it. You seem to be getting more and more worked up and your posts are not a little Troll like and sound pretty immature. This is just how you seem to me and their may be others that share my point of view. I would love to be proved wrong. This is not a personal attack so please don't take it as one :-)

I fully appreciate that, when it comes to software, timetables are very difficult to keep to but that is no reason not to say anything. In my work I sometimes receive questions from other companies that I cannot answer at the time. Do I just leave them? No, I write a quick message acknowledging receipt and advising that I will deal with the query as soon as I can. The company may not like that but at least they are aware that someone has the query. To date, the only information we have had (for something that was supposed to start in a few days) has been very kindly provided by Mike (tdragger) and I'm sure we all very much appreciate the time he has taken to give us news.I really hope this hasn't come across as a moaning post. That was really not my intention at all and I apologise if that is the impression I have given. It's just that when things can't be done it is often appreciated when when told so.

August 21, 200619 yr Author Calm down everybody! :-) This thread has been very well behaved so far and it would be a shame if it started to go downhill. :-) :-)
August 21, 200619 yr I agree. My post was mostly just to remind myself.Awareness of our own flaws is the best way to fix them.

I would love to be proved wrong. This>is not a personal attack so please don't take it as one :-)>1) How long have you been simming ?Since 1984 or 85. FS2 for the C642) Why do you have an almost manic obsession with this beta ?This is not so much the issue. Its the fact that I registered for something and then nothing. Do I not have this right to voice my concerns? Its fileplanet and Microsofts deal so naturally they are going to get flamed for it when things don't go as they should. I guess we live in a society when people expect to get ripped off so when it happens nobody cares. 3) What will you do if you don't get selected?Well if this is how it is then absolutely nothing. I would rather know this then nothing at all. I would not renew my fileplanet account and never fall for this again. This was the original plan. 4) Did you join Avsim just so you could complain about the beta because to me this is how it looks ?I am now retired from the flightsim community but I contributed to this hobby more then most have. I have had several accounts at avsim over the years but they have expired because of upgrades and what not. I was burned over this beta issue so I registered again. Trust me I am not the only one who is burned over this.5) How old are you ?33

Everyone still seems to be falling back on this "I paid for a fileplanet account, so I must get updates on the FSX beta" thing, which really isn't valid at all.But I do agree with you that it would be nice to know. I'm sure somebody somewhere either knows what's going on, or can find out, and I just assume that there's some sort of PR issue behind us not knowing. Now, looking at it logically, the fact that we haven't been told anything seems to indicate that we won't, which makes complaining about it (which, sure, is your right as a consumer) sort of futile and basically a waste of energy. I'm pretty sure people at ACES and or Fileplanet know that there is some grumbling and general unhappiness RE: The Beta, so really, what's the point?Nobody is going to say that you can't be frustrated or impatient, like I said, you have that right. But not getting informed of the status of something you aren't gauranteed to get and which hasn't come out two weeks after you weren't promised it with no indication of a solid release date hardly constitutes fraud, which is pretty much what you are insinuating. It just indicates that we are kind of in the dark right now, and as weak and uninformed as that might make us, it certainly appears that it is something we'll just have to deal with. I think if anyone was going to give into our complaints, they would have done it already. That's just my two cents on the issue.-Brian
