Wow great news and thanks for the update. Just wondering if you have a ETA for the beta?

I am just guessing here but if we are lucky maybe the end of this week. You figure they must solve the distribution problem and then deliver it to fileplanet. I am not sure if this is done by transfering over the net or in a FedEx envelope. I would guess it would be done in a FedEx envelope but maybe not. This takes a day or so and then Fileplanet has to set it up on its end. So ad another day or so (hopefully not a fileplanet day :-lol )Probably more then likely it will be next week since its now Thursday. By the sound of it the delay does not sound very long. Plus with the unofficial release date being bumped a few weeks we will still have plenty of time to play before most will.

Perhaps it was in the process of being shipped to fileplanet and a crazed flight sim nut jumped the delivery guy and installed it on to his own pc with out intentions to take it to fileplanet.*:-* :(

They shouldn't have to send it in the mail via FedEx. Just put it on the server with a login and 128 bit encryption. The bandwidth always seems very good when downloading from MS.

Fileplanet says emails will be going out to the people who were selected by Wednesday 08/23. In the email it was going to say when the beta would be ready for download. This seemes consistent with how Fileplanet does things but I don't believe these emails have actually gone out yet.

I have to say this thread is one of the most entertaining I've read in a long time. The enthusiasm mixed with the angst of some users has turned this into a soap opera. :-lolLonghaul: How do you know the email notifications have not gone out yet? You contradict your own statement. First you say that is how Fileplanet does things, then you say the emails haven't gone out yet.Your reasoning that they haven't gone out yet is because you didn't get an email from Fileplanet? Even though you know not all participants are going to be selected.Perhaps the emails did go out and in them the people selected are instructed to keep the release date and link private. Therefore, people on the outside are never going to know this until someone leaks the word to everyone else.

Right on, and lets hope this open beta will get started this last week of August, otherwise i fail to see the point of it if release is still October.
