Qualitywings 757 released for P3Dv4

Recommended Posts

And yet another release I've been wanting: the Qualitywings 757 for P3Dv4

http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=qw757p3d4

I do own the CS757, and while I like it, I'm not in love with it. For the grand total of 15$ to get all 757 models ever produced in the QW package, I feel like I'll probably just go ahead and get this QW757. If I feel like it's too simplistic, it wouldn't have been too big an investment anyway... I do remember it being a bit too easy, so there certainly is that chance.

Just to note that it's emphatically stated that this is a (bug-fixed) PORT of the FSX version. So not a new development.

If anybody gets it, I'd be eager to hear your thoughts.

Kind of wish I waited for this release instead of going with the CS 757 at full price. While I do enjoy the plane performance is dreadful compared to every other plane I own.

I can buy a lot of milk for $15, or put $15 toward another more realistic add-on. What's next, PBR for that FS9 757 ?  😂

I was wondering when he was going to show up...😏

If the QW757 is functional and has better VC FPS than I'm in for $15. CS 757 sucks on frames and panel lighting. Other Devs have no issues with it but CS says there is nothing they can do.

You may not realize this, but no one is going to take you seriously. You're coming off as nothing but a QW malcontent. They could give you a free level-D full motion simulator and you'd find a way to tell us that proves how much they suck. I don't really understand why you've been allowed to continue tilting at this particular windmill, but it would be greatly appreciated by the rest of us if you'd stop.

Honestly, a LOT of devs should look up to QW. There support, prices and products are amazing. for £12 this is one of the best products for its price. You get I think 3 or 4 aircraft variants!? I am not going to compare their products to PMDG or Aerosoft because there is no point. They provide simple (ish) products which are polished and easy to use 😄

Thanks to the QW team,

Ollie.

OOPS! Didn't realise there was a free upgrade 😞 Just paid £12 for something I could have got for free. Going to see if I can get a refund, silly me!

Where did you see that?  I don't see anything on the addon page.   I have the QW757 for FS9/FSX purchased years ago direct from QW.

But that will only get you the older FSX version. The P3Dv4 is still a seperate purchase.

It comes under a service update, implying its not a separate product.

The Flight1 store still shows $15 for the 757 for P3D v4.  Am I missing something?

Does this use " QualityWings - The Ultimate 787 Collection" from Navigraph for its FMS? Or something else? I see the phrase on the Flight1 website " fun Entry level 757 " and wonder just how entry level it is.

Yes, the QW757 for P3Dv4 does use Navigraph for updating the FMS just like its FSX sibling. Registered in the QW Flight1 forum and got a lot more details which probably should be on the product information page. ie the changelog.

Nope - it's 15$... There's no upgrade path from the FSX version. It's a separate purchase.

Bare with me here because it's been some years sicne I last flew the QW757. From what I remember it's entry level, but it does all the stuff any normal simmer would want it to do. i.e., it allows you to input your route, PERF INIT, with LNAV and VNAV, Autoland... It does quite a good set of the automated functions. Just don't expect anything that goes beyond that. You'll also find shortcuts in general operation, such as not being able to control the various landing lights separately, or a click on the APU Start knob causing it to goes to Start and then On automatically without further user input.

I'd say it's probably more basic than the Aerosoft Airbus, but still a huge step up from any Virtualcol Jet. I remember enjoying it a lot. Quite frankly, I don't think it's really that much less complex than the Captain Sim 757. And one major plus for me: they included the retrofit cockpit which, these days, is widespread among US-based 757 operators!

But mind the disclaimer: it's probably been some five years since I last used the QW757... until now. I already bought it and will probably take her for a quick spin this evening!

Well a) it's only $15, and b) it's a Flight1 download installer which means it's sold with a no-questions-asked 30-day money back guarantee.  So my suggestion would be to drop a couple of coins and go see for yourself.

At that price it's hard to NOT buy it if only to tinker with it.

Regards

Have the 757 installed and running fine in P3D v4.5, but the QW dispatcher is proving to be a bit "buggy" for me.... Anyone else having any issues..??

I wonder, what makes your opinion of this product more valid than mine? Absolutely nothing.

I will not apologize for having a higher standard than you or anybody else for a 757 ( one of the most important aircraft of our time ) simulation.

Neither Quality Wings or Captain Sim have successfully represented the 757 to the standard that they have claimed, facts are facts. And PBR does (would do) nothing to help that fact, just like the case with the 787.

If we had more calls for higher standards we would be better off. The community as a whole prefers A2A/PMDG/FSL quality, not Abacus quality. The middle ground for a 757 is acceptable if there is one of exceptional quality available, there is none of exceptional quality. So there needs to be a call to a higher quality. There is not one simmer that can say that the QW 757 is an excellent representation of a 757; yes the exterior is beautiful, the sounds are good, but these qualities are only good for making videos shot from the outside.

My comment was very serious, so much so, I had to add a little humor, because I realize PBR for the QW 757 is not likely.

Not trying to make anybody mad - just making it clear that this community can do much better.

Looks like some kind of embedded zip utility (Ionic.zip) either didn't make it into the installer or onto your PC.
