I think you will have to purchase MSFS what we don't know is will you need to subscribe to Azure the steaming platform, as the sim says powered by Azure.

You did read that indeed but that doesn't mean it is so. Some people think it will only be subscription based, some think it will be subscription based as well as an outright purchase and some think it will only be an outright purchase. If I missed any options: I am sure some people think of the option I missed too. 😎

Whatever everyone thinks, no one knows it for sure so... just wait and see! 😉

Freeware 🙂

I think at this point nobody knows for sure. It was mentioned by Microsoft that Flight Simulator 2020 will be included in the Xbox gamepass line up which is a monthly subscription but this will give you access to many other games. However this does not mean it will not be available as an outright purchase.

I already have a Xbox game pass and I love it.

It is pure speculation at this point in regards to monthly streaming services ect.

Agreed but why say in the trailer powered by satellite data and Azure AI, Azure is nothing to do with CPU or GPU graphics when we know it is in fact Microsoft Cloud Streaming platform.

Maybe they have constructed the scenery package within the simulator with satellite data and filled the gaps with Azure? The scenery could then be compressed. I would be amazed if they insist on a always on internet connection. It would not bother me but I know it would bother many!

Filled the gaps with Azure !!!!

Is cortana ‘powered by azure’? Just trying to think what ATC will be like - surely it will be using some sort of cortana-a-like

On the bright side: Some lucky player who takes out a few Scarlett Live subscriptions might have the Ed McMahon Memorial team knocking on his door with a million dollar check !

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

I cannot post a link but check out YouTube for AZURE sites by Microsoft around the world and how fast they now set them up using a modular system.

I say right off that I will not support a subscription based flight sim, then I think about it and ask myself, what would be included in a subscription?  If we have to pay a subscription just for access to the sim AND we have to purchase add-on's for enhancing the sim - this is ungood!  On the other hand, if a subscription includes ALL add-ons and support that will ever be, well I gotta think about that and see what the subscription price is.  I have spent a good bit of money for add-on's over the years, but I can't make a decision at this point because I know as much right now as I knew when the trailer was first shown.    How can anyone make a decision when we don't even know the pricing model MS is going to use let alone what the finished product will look like.  I don't have too many brain cells left in this life and I don't want to waste them trying to read the mind of Microsoft and believe all the hype and innuendo being spewed by the minute here in the forums.  Anywho...I need to go medicate so I don't croak with my hand on the mouse and leaving my post unfinished.  My 3 cents of worthless opinion.

I can't imagine 3rd party developer add ons ever being included in the MFS subscription price

When I think of this model, I think of Royalties, just like music and movies.  If a third party creates an add-on and it gets included in the sim, then the 3rd party will get royalties for as long as the add-on exists in the sim or however the contract is written.  Nevertheless, I am not a subscription fan at all, but times are changing and the software paradigm is shifting, but again, if I am still breathing when this thing hits the shelf, I can't make a decision until then.  I love simming above any other hobby I've ever tried and I'll not forsake this hobby just because the cheese get's moved in one direction or another.  This hobby has many persons beyond their working years and most likely they may be on fixed income...a subscription based model will not bode well for them.  I will be there soon so I might still be using P3Dv4 and XP11 long after the MS2020 sim has been in the mainstream.

When I think of MSFS I think of FSX:SE hosted on steam but addons added from devs websites.

Yes, I was warm to that model, but I will not be so warm to such a model if I have to pay a subscription to just use the sim.

In fact this is just the opposite: Azure is Microsoft's AI cloud computing so it does have to do with CPU GPU as Azure will made all the calculations instead of your computer. The streaming platform may be related to Azure or the new XCloud wich will be launched in a few months.

Im currently very convinced it will not be subscription based because that would drive off many many customers.  they do better by selling at a lower price through many outlets and then selling addons (aka DLC).

I do think internet always will be required though.  I prefer to fly offline but that cant work in a world where an online computer streams the graphics to you.  maybe theres an offline simple sim mode? I doubt it.
