what would you like to see on Aug 15th?

Featured Replies

MikeT707 has suggested twice now that people suggest what they would like to see in the next update (Aug 15th 2019) but both times his suggestion is ignored.

I think its a good one so what I would like to see is more information and unedited in game video of "real weather" and the cloud formations associated with that weather (Im looking for lots of variety).  I also want to see weather transitions like if you are in clear weather and you've got a front approaching your position - do the clouds and visibility change as you scan the horizon?  Also - flying through cloud layers... i'd like to see if upper clouds really do cast shadows or change the lighting for lower level clouds and Id like to see if clouds whip past your cockpit like they did in MS Flight (ie no barn door effect).

Weather related appearances are what I'm interested right now.

I want to see a teaser for a development roadmap.

I just want to see something about the game. No schedules.

Short answer is I'd love to see any new media taken from the new sim, either pics or video.  Short of that I'd like to read about features the new sim will have and how they are improved over the feature list from FSX.

Now in more detail, things I'd like to see or read about from the new sim:

- What will the ATC be like?
- How dynamic is the weather, and is current real world weather implemented?
- What will be the default list of aircraft?
- Can we see some examples of areas without the photogrammetry, autogen only?
- Is the flight modeling improved over FSX, and if so in what ways?
- Will there be any game or mission elements implemented?
- Will Simconnect be supported?  (ie: will Flight Sim Economy (FSE) be compatible?)
- How robust will ground effects be modeled?
- Will water landings be modeled better than FSX?  Amphibious planes are a large part of bush flying!
- Are the autogen and scenery sized to scale in a more realistic fashion than they were in FSX?
- Will addon scenery and planes be made easier to install and manage?  (less directories and file scattering)

No less than what they said:

  • Advanced preview of the Development Roadmap
  • “In-Sim” content – clips captured from build.
  • Preview Build Program – Detailed information on first build deliverable, Insider participation sign-up

But as much information about the sim itself is always appreciated!

I thought it'd be helpful if people posted what they wanted to see clips of.

- A city with autogen only (but maybe autogen work is not yet finished)

- How the aircraft is affected when flying threw clouds, thunderstorms if possible

- An idea about the minimum or recommended config required

Maybe they haven't gotten to this yet...

..but I'd love to see a clip showing amazing scenery in a place that basic Bing maps might indicate to us the coverage isn't amazing.

Something to show us that the scenery really will be more than just autogen and good 3D buildings in the big really well covered known places.

I think we are all really curious on how great the Azure scenery might actually be.

This! 😉 im really Looking for a reason to Startup a flightsim again

Besides:

Videos of Scenery of rural/remote Areas would be great
Infos on the planes they already have or have planned (or at least what Kind of planes they aim to deliver from the start)
How will AI be used in sim, only in development to create scenery or while using the sim (for example weather calculations)

^^ This - 100%

I think the scenery skepticism is only continuing for some because we haven't seen enough outside of major cities/areas that are really well covered by sat imagery and 3d building data.

In the future, I would definitely like to see some of our high quality commercial aircraft's with high quality cabins and cabin simulations, i.e passengers actually sitting in their seats, watching movies and eating with NO frame loss 🙂. With FSDT simulation of GSX and passenger boarding they are certainly headed in the right direction. However, the time it takes for all this to happen, these features could definitely use some much improved eye candy display. Though I'm guessing we are light years away from this and perhaps only when 128bit OS's are available..

Wait - what?

You actually spend time observing virtual passengers in their seats watching movies and eating?

Like many here, I would like to see what the sim will look like in remote areas where there is no photogrammetry data or even good satellite photos, and they have to use landclass + autogen. Or whatever their plan is. But I seriously doubt they will show that in the early days.

Right now, MS is in overdrive on marketing and hype-building. I expect drip feeds of any solid information, and only the best-looking still shots and video clips released as previews. They're not likely to show where the product doesn't look that great, unless they've figured out a magic way to make more remote areas look much better with new tech than the other current sims manage to do it. Which is possible I guess, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Anyway, the normal thing for a developer to do at this stage, is to show only the very best side of the product, and hide anything ugly from view.
