l, its just so akward to ask ask questions that seem to be so  OBVIOUS (to most people any way)

So I will be the stupid guy here:

I know we don't know the official requirements but what config could fit to the new sim for the average simmer?

I am not talking about I9's and 2060ti's of course 🙂

SOP answer : The only thing we know is that at the Seattle and London events where the sim seemed smooth when in full glory, the CPU were said to be in the upper tier (gen 8 ?) but not the top  (gen 9) and the GPU a 2080i (not a 2060...).

We also know, so to speak, that nobody fled the alpha testing pulling out their hair complaining loudly that the sim was too heavy for their rig.

I suppose the team does not give any hint about the min and recommended config because  they don't know themselves how the thing will sail after optimization. Also how the flow of data coming from the outside may be for many the main choke point. Hopefully CPU and GPU will not have to play Waiting for Godot 😏.

You made a good decision. I didn’t even updated my PC (RAM) for it. Once we know the game recommended specs we can aim for a good PC for it. But now? It’s totally crazy to update or buy a PC just for an alpha...

I wouldn't say it's crazy to update your pc at the moment, going by the specs used by Microsoft/Asobo at recent event's that they have held, it's fairly obvious what sort of system will run the sim to a high level, plus my other Sims and games I play get a significant boost, although I admit I'm waiting until the 30xx or equivalent AMD GPU's have been released later in the year the year to upgrade my GPU.

AMD 9800X3D,  NZXT X73 RGB AIO COOLER, Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WIFI7, 64GB 6000MHZ RAM, 4TB Samsung Pro NVME, 4 TB Crucial P3+ NVME, 4TB Crucial SSD, Gigabyte Gaming OC Geforce RTX5090, Antec C8 ARGB Case, X55 JOYSTICK/THROTTLES, LG 4K C4 42" TV/Monitor 120 Hz, 2 Dell 1080 monitors. Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle. Thrustmaster TPR Pedals. Moza AB6 FFB Joystick, Pimax Crystal Light VR, Tobii Eye tracker, Steelseries Arctis 7+ Wireless Headphones.

End of the year-ish.

CASE: Fractal Terra Silver CPU: AMD R5 7800X3D 5.0Ghz RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 GPU: nVidia RTX 4070 Ti SUPER · SSDs: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB M.2 PCIe · PNY XLR8 CS3040 2TB M.2 PCIe · VIDEO: LG-32GK650F QHD 32" 144Hz FREE/G-SYNC · MISC: Thrustmaster TCA Airbus Joystick + Throttle Quadrant · MSFS2024 · Windows 11

... and RAM was 64 GB.

So the one thing I am considering to upgrade is my RAM (of currently 16 GB), whenever there is a nice opportunity. RAM seems to be quite cheap at the moment.

If a public beta appears in the middle of the year, I don't care about anything else

Yep. But I don't know why and if it is not more important to have  a graphic card with a double digit amount of VRAM (hence the 2080ti)  than 64 GB of RAM.The team has said a couple of times that the GPU would play a central role.

It was mentioned in one interview, that unlike other game titles, the SDK of MSFS will be released "at least 6 month" prior to the release of the sim. So if they meant the early version of the SDK, which, as far I know, is going out next week, then that would mean, that the release of MSFS will be July at the earliest. So we re probably looking at a Q3 / Q4 release.

True. But going from a 1080TI to a 2080TI costs about 10 times more than going from 16 GB RAM to 32 GB RAM. 😉

It's a possibility. Anything can happen at this point i guess.

I prefer to wait to have the final version in our hands before expend money... but updating just thinking in an alpha? idk...

Hardware requirements will depend on many things, and one of those is screen resolution. There is a big difference between 4K and 1080p.

UK2000 Beta Tester

I am running a 6700k Skylake at 4.6Ghz. 16GB DDRRam and a Nvidia 1070GTX.

I have had 4 good years. I would say treat yourself and wait till July and pick up the 10900i  5GHZ 10 Core Processor the 3070GTX and 32 or 64GB DDR Ram and you will be set for the next 24 months for sure... Have not delved into VR yet but this WILL be the way forward I am sure.

Have not been this excited since well.... Never
