I can't wait to see how "equalized" the orhto (aerial imagery) tiles are... 

But algorythms to equalize images tones based on samples from another image exist in actual photo editing tools (i.e: Photoshop). 

Such algorythms could be automated to sample the tones of surrounding tiles and create a balance in hues and saturations, contrast and brightness etc. 

But then the aerial imagery are not draped as is in the engine. I see a process similar to the one we apply in a tool that generates photorealistic scenery for another simulator... It has an option to apply decals over the Ortho tiles to create a thin transparent overlay of a crisp grainy texture. This reduces the low res effect of the aerial imagery when seen from the ground level or low altitude... We can also choose the value for the transition between coastlines and water...

So if that 3rd party tool allows such improvement for the aerial imagery, Asosbo's engine being what it is, must have more advanced algorythms to bring the aerial imagery to another level...

And then when you put any 2D or 3D asset in an engine with such rendering capability, it will look radically different and attractive...

I think for low altitudes the AI will analyze the image data and support the ortho with proper scenery. Probably with both, textures and 3D objects like grass, trees, bushes, etc.

Not sure this is what the AI does. I could be mistaken but the AI does not create anything there. It analyzes the imagery to detect vegetation and infrastructure footprints... 

Again I could be mistaken but the AI collects the data and Asobo use their tools to generate from this data 3D assets or autogen to represent vegeation and then based on the location in the worls many other algorythms help customize these assets.

And then other 3D elements are procedural in my opinion (i.e: grass).

In other words, what the AI should do, is build a worldwide databse similar to the OSM database that is manually done by contributors...

Curiously, the AI couldn’t  make out the abominable multi storey appartment buildings so common in French cities and suburbs nowadays. Has the AI a good taste in urban architecture ?

😂 I agree. I spent 2 days there a few years ago and without these 70s buildings it would actually be a pretty neat place. Fortunately such buildings are confined to the Ajaccio area. The rest of the island is spectacularly beautiful.

Not lying. I thought the last pic looks a bit unrealistic. 😄

Considering there is no photogrammetry, it is pretty solid I'd say.
