Payware airport predictions?

Thanks for everyone's input.  How they market their addons will be very touchy at the beginning.  If it's just minor work to have them suitable for MS2020, then charging full price will appear greedy.  Charging nothing may be considered a bad business decision, since they're in business to make money.  Offering a discount to loyal customers is necessary I think to bring about a smooth transition...but as always, the consumer has the final say on what is acceptable.

I can not wait to see how PMDG will be greedy this time with this new platform....

I am also hoping for a vibrant freeware community (like XP11, for instance)

My opinion is that airports addon will come in packs (like German Airports for FSX). SInce the difference will not be so huge as that with defaults from FSX/P3D most consumers will not be bothered to buy single airports since the default will look pretty nice. In the default airport case, I am only curious what will happen when you are parked at the gate and whether or not looking out the cockpit window we would see a blurry mess or high res texture of the terminal.

I thought this new sim was going to be totally new and different from what we now have. If that's the case everything for it would have to be recreated from the ground up like something for Xplane vs something for P3DV4.  In that case it would have to be full price since developers have to make a living.

I don't think so. All 3D modeling, which I think is perhaps the biggest part of the job, can be used (or converted if needed) without problems. Perhaps some sort of conversion will be needed but that will be a lot easier to do than building everything from the ground up again. The same may goes for the textures which may need some enhancements (to make use of new features) but that's it. I don't think developers will have to recreate everything from the ground up again so releasing 'converted' add ons with an upgrade price for existing users wouldn't be odd. Obviously there will always be developers who will try to make you think they had to start from scratch again...

In my opinion I'm disappointed in the 3pd. How many LAX, DFW, ord, mia versions do we need? I'm still waiting for DTW  so not concerned about buying  it again. (Or probably ever)  I cant spend money on an airport that I visit once or twice, pretty much the reason I haven't purchased airports.

Sunskyjet studios has a decent free ware (donation ware) KDTW. For a small donation you sign up as a Beta tester and they will let you down load it. (5 or 10 bucks). Go to their web site and you can have a look.

Keep in mind that with the introduction of "sloped and undulating runways" the past methods of creating airport scenery may possibly render such methods obsolete. Additionally, old AI way well need to be revisited for the same reasons.

If major airports like EDDF, EHAM, EKCH, etc.will have the same quality as KSFO and EGLL in the demo, then they're more than enough for me, and I won't have any need for payware versions of them.

I have only bought airports for P3D for places I know or have visited, so it will be very limited which airports I will have to buy again.

I don't always stop and look at airplanes.........Oh wait, Yes I do.

Ummm, pay 5 or 10 bucks  to beta test freeware? Sorry , makes no sense lmao

Maybe not but it is a good rendition. The only one of Detroit I know of. I don't know why none of the developers have produced this major hub.  They also have a good KPHL for free.

I think the airport developers will have their place with Fs2020. Ok the airports may be automatically generated but I think a lot of details will have to be improved like mobile jetways, inside airports, service cars, etc.

I can not wait to see the default AI.

I'd rather spend on something that will enhance all the airports, like gsx, or Rex airports,  more bang for the buck than singles.
