Found reason for massive redwood sized trees.

And one thing we need to be aware of..... I'll let you in on an inside developers secret state the real issue after investigating. If there is one thing we hate (issue goes into the circular file)

it's wrong, it's broken it doesn't work.

What's broken?

The trees are wrong

What's wrong with the trees?

They are too tall

Nope, I looked at the model and they are correct

No, there is another tree on top of another

Oooooh why didn't you just say that

Lmao

Look at the St. Maarten shot I linked above (Specifically the top of the trees in comparison to the tail of the parked A320), and also the Donegal shot (where you can clearly see the delineation between top and bottom tree sections.  Same problem.  Or on some of the city landscapes shown, look out in the distance.  All you can see are these huge trees.

I don't see anything wrong at Donegal and I dont see St Maarten.

There are only so many tree models they can make and they've already shown a good variety.  The average USA tree is 40 to 70 feet and I think it makes them look good to have cutout sections and non uniform shape.  The pine trees down here along the gulf often have no branches at all until the very tops which are 70 to 80 feet up.  I've already said I dont know whats going on there at O'hare but Im sure it will get worked out.  I just don't want to lose my correctly sized trees.

I've got pines like that in my front yard.  Or I couldn't get in the garage. Haha

I’m curious to know if we will have the ability to remove (or replace with a new model) trees in the previewed airport editor program?  That would be a nice addition.

If it's on your harddrive? Probably, if phtogrammetry? Probably not so much

I would agree that it should be relatively easy to finetune things to have trees display in the correct scale, but my question is will the team do that. I am hoping so.

Yes, let's see if this refinement will be on the to do list for the first release...

As you know and based on my real life job in a software development team, it's MS not Asobo that make the final decision as for the features priority or completelion level.

Of course, Asobo have a lot to say and advice about how things should be done and their vision of quality and completion but at the end of the day, it's MS that pays the development as you know and everything that goes with it. So they can make compromises.

However, to be honest, I did not see a lot of compromises being done. In all the previews and tech videos we saw, it feels as if MS put in the offices of Asobo a super bright green light to develop features and add levels of details never seen before in such a title...

So based on that, I am kind of confident, they will refine the data implementation of the trees and infrastructure.

I can't wait to learn about the specific architecture of the Asobo world engine but usually the terrain components are different from the airport components or other overlays.

Terrain editing is certainly possible with in-engine tools Asobo did and use but will we get access to part of these tools like the in-sim tools they previewed in the video for airports, I do not know.

But then any 3rd party edition does never touch the basic database and it is always reversible.

Like in most simulator mods and addons, trees removal or replacement could be done with additional layers and a soft exclude of the basic terrain layer.

But after seing the tools for Airports in yesterday`s video, I have the feeling many things we used to do manually are almost automated now with some indications for the engine.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with me pointing it out.  I’m not being rude about it, just pointing it out.  It’s not like I’ve only pointed out the negatives.  I’ve been more than enthusiastic and impressed with most everything we’ve seen so far.  But, if I see something that appears to be wrong, then by all means, I will at the minimum point it out.  If they want to listen to me, cool.  If not, that’s cool too. But don’t talk down to me for a perfectly fine critique.

I wasn't talking to you, hence why I didn't quote you.

Your OP is pointing out the flaw and is good information, not fretting with exclamation points and acting like Asobo are idiots.

OK, off topic but..the water and the weather in that first shot look wicked!!! Maybe the winds will come and knock some of your taller trees over and all will be well.

If that's true then FS2020 is a failure.... Give me less density but properly sized trees and buildings.

Are those waves "volumetric" and not just textures?  Looks amazing!

On the flip side, some of the super tall trees at St. Barts have been corrected (or were broken, depending on when the footage in the video was taken). Focus the trees around the terminal specifically.

Now the trees on the left side of the picture still seem to be a bit tall, but the ones on the right side are a lot smaller.

The trees on the left appear to be a totally different type in the 2nd shot and much more tailored to the region. Along with the size change around the terminal, it's pretty clear they are working all this stuff out.

and the captain just sat there looking at this tall tree and said : nope , that tree is way too big we cant flight today .

Image removed as image is no longer available.

It seems that perfect trees (shape, color, variety) are the ultimate frontier of a good sim. Half joking only.
