April 14, 20206 yr One way to justify paying for version 5 is that this is the beginning of many improvements, for which users will not be charged-- as in the case of version 4. So, it's perfectly reasonable to think that by the time we get to version 6, the $60.00 investment will have been justified and well made. Now let's hope that there will be 9 upgrades until version 6. tc

April 14, 20206 yr I'll be paying the $200. What do I get for that? Well, besides the new clouds, water and graphics rendering, there are a lot of bug fixes and reported performance improvement. Beyond that, P3Dv4.5 will not be updated while v5 will. Developers making new aircraft will be making them for v5, not v4.x. And y'know what? I don't even like the new clouds! And I don't much care about the new water. If they turn out to be incredible, that's just icing on the cake. To the OP: thanks for the update. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! April 14, 20206 yr I always find it interesting...and TBH somewhat amusing...when people assume that their value for money assessment should just naturally apply to everyone else. Of course if that was the case, there would be no Mercedes or BMWs, no Gulfstreams or Falcons, no Ping or Honma golf clubs, no Ruth's Chris steakhouses etc etc etc. Everyone should drive Opels, fly Ryanair Sardine+ Class, play croquet instead of golf, and eat cardboard bargain burgers at McDonald's, right? If something is too expensive relative to the value you get out of it, then it's your option to not buy it. The rest of us who do consider it fair value for the asking price will go on just fine and enjoy it without you. We'll know what we've got, and you'll at least think you know what you're missing. Nothing wrong with being content driving your three-year old VW if it gets you where you want to go. But that doesn't mean the neighbor shouldn't enjoy his new Audi. Error establishing a database connection This has nothing to do with the value proposition and everything to do with the fact that when a shiny new flight sim is around the corner simmers regress into a kind of primordial state of gimme gimme now. Just wait for the "slow download speeds, at that speed it'll take 567 years to download" thread. This is when the real fun starts.

Error establishing a database connection Cool. When the corona virus started spreading throughout my country, the Prime Minister said on the TV that everyone should go shopping because there'd be quarantine. Guess what, 2 hours later the grocery stores looked like after a battle and no food anywhere. Does that mean that it was necessary? No. The only thing it proves is that it's extremely easy to fool people into doing something. That could be a bad person winning elections or companies promoting their word not allowed products. Lesson learned? Just because people are buying something doesn't mean it's good. It just means that the marketing department of the company is good at selling it. (Or, in this case, they simply could have a word not allowed website that can't handle traffic) 1 minute ago, w6kd said: I always find it interesting...and TBH somewhat amusing...when people assume that their value for money assessment should just naturally apply to everyone else. It wouldn't affect my life at all. I drive relatively new BMW, I don't mind flying Ryanair but I enjoy Emirates or Singapore more, obviously. I choose airlines according to my destination. McDonald's... Eh. Try to avoid it, prefer restaurants... But sometimes I get the cheeseburger because it's easy and fast food. I also cook at home (cooking dinner right now). Clearly you didn't get my point what so ever. I'd much rather spend $200 on a brand new sim that's gonna give me value than $60 on P3D v5 🙂 Tomáš Pokorný SYSTEM -> CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K @ 5.0 GHz | GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti @ 2027 MHz | RAM: 2x8 GB G.Skill Trident RGB 3200 MHz | MOBO: AsRock Z370 Extreme 4 | SSD: Kingston 256 GB, Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB | HDD: Western Digital 1 TB | CPU COOLER: Corsair H115i | CASE: Corsair Obsidian Series 750D | PSU: Seasonic Focus Gold 750W EQUIPMENT -> YOKE: Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System + Throttle Quadrant, Saitek X52 | RUDDER PEDALS: Saitek Pedals | CAMERA: TrackIR 5

April 14, 20206 yr well I brought v2 v3 and V4 once every couple of years paid the same amount each time for my base sim . Most add ons I have brought once and occasional update cost but not much .good value for 6 years of constant updates . Unlike Microsoft last time . I am a beta tester for MS2020. Like many here no comment though good or bad lets say love both for different reason .I brought xplane 11 when it came out and have not brought one add on for it .
