V5 Anyone else notice these issues?

Recommended Posts

So, I've read most of the threads on here and other sites with the known issues with v5, though some were just too long. What I haven't seen talked about yet, are three issues Im having. Just curious if anyone else is noticing these.

1. In both the base v5, or with custom mesh/orbx, there is a giant square mile 1000' box sticking out of the Narraganset Bay. You can see this clearly from PVD. This may be location specific or it may happen random other places. Though, I've only seen it in RI so far.

2. Bridges. Anyone else notice bridges from v4 aren't in v5? The tobin in boston for example. Some bridges are just roads flat on the water. They were decent looking bridges in the past. Does this have to do with no orbx vector this time?

3. And lastly, when flying OVER complex addon airports, do the buildings not appear but the shadows show up in their place? Recently did a sight seeing flight from BID, and noticed this at flytampa boston. It is also clearly visible if you use the top down view and zoom out. (also experienced this with some building in seattle city x)

Just curious if anyone has seen any of these before. Or if I have a borked install. Thanks.

I can all 3 points confirm. Every single one of them are also issues I see/have.

Have either of you told Lockheed Martin at the P3D forum? Nothing will be done unless you do.

I also noticed that all airports in v5 are broken. Developers started releasing updates.
This prevents the transition to the fifth version, as well as the lack of real weather and airplanes.

After flying around over certain areas of the world with which I'm acquainted have found lots of water bodies that do not exist in real life and all the issues the issues found in this thread. Cannot understand LM claim that the vector data is better than on V4. Also ground textures look a lot worse than in v4 in quite a lot of areas. Cannot understand why Orbx has discontinued Vector for v5.

Let's hope this version will soon be superseded by a better one.

Yes, we definitely need a Vector add-on. Even when LM has introduced better vector data now, this is only true for the most common areas but still with some flaws. I was thinking about to re-activate my Ultimate Terrain X series for v5. According to another post, this can be done quite easily.

Orbx is just the publisher of Vector. The developer, PILOT'S, abandoned it years ago.

Thanks for the heads up on Narragansett Bay. I'm a local too and I generally stay local when in the simulator - that would annoy the heck out of me. I wonder if you could layer in an elevation mesh product to squash it down. (?)

I've posted here and on LM forum regarding Narragansett Bay.  Many others have posted other similar anomalies elsewhere, as well.

I tried making a flatten BGL to fix it using ADE 1.79 to no effect.

Definitely a step back from v4 with Vector.

Often see vehicles and buildings floating at all altitudes.  They come and go. I see real elevation problems at various airports throughout v5.

I cannot complete a flight.  I can takeoff, cruise, but as soon as I'm about to land I crash into some invisible wall.  Not only does it kill the immersion, it down right scares me sometimes! 🙂  Right now I'm just messing on X-Plane 11 and installing new airport installers as they roll in until this mess is sorted.  I've tried all different types of mesh settings but none seem to work.  At least LM knows about it.

Is this at any particular airport? Have you ticked "ignore crashes" in the realism section of the settings? I have heard of this with addon sceneries creating an invisible barrier.

'Ignore Crashes' has nothing to do with it.

As well as addon airports.

I get the crash on landing with stock everything.
