April 24, 20206 yr So i just updated Windows 10 to version 2004 Insiders after seeing someone get 1Gig of VRAM by doing the same. I flew Drzewiecki Designs Seattle X airports updated installer yesterday, with sliders maxed i was peaking at 8.2 GIG VRAM out of 9.1 allocated in total, After today's Insiders update it gave my 1080TI an extra 1GIG of VRAM from 9.1 GIG VRAM to 10.1 GIG VRAM so W10 OS has given back 1 GIG. 🙂 and this was with full sliders and 50% traffic i reached 7.5 which is a significant increase. Cheers.
April 24, 20206 yr Good to know, wonder if LM will recommend this along with whatever they hotfix. Eventually everybody will get the 2004 update but not for a while 9800x3d | 64GB DDR5 6000 Ram |MSI Gaming Trio OC 5090 @ 3.0GHZ | X870e Mag Tomahawk | 2x 2TB M.2 | Lian LI Dynamic XL ROG Case | Hotas Warthog Joystick and Throttle, Crosswind Rudder Pedals | Corsair Nightblade | K95 RGB| | LG 28" 4k, Dell 34" AW3420DW Ultrawide| Windows 10 Pro | MSFS2024 | Custom Water Loop |
April 24, 20206 yr I did too. I also a 1080ti and 32GB. More VRAM is available but still get DEVICE_HUNG error no matter how many throws of the display options dice I throw. Waiting for the patch. Also using TdrDelay to 8 seconds. No dice either. 1 more edit.. Most issues are not related to VRAM (I am at 3.1GB at times and still device_hung occurs. But as it is in the realm of the graphics card, I will mention about it here. Edited April 24, 20206 yr by daelight

I have not experienced a device hung yet, i tried by pushing everything excluding the terrain mesh slider, but it never happened...

And i switched off hyperthreading, it`s smoother for me with this build and less heat. I`m permanently OC at 5GHZ... Edited April 24, 20206 yr by RW1

Have you tried: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers add the DWORD(32-bit) key named "TdrLevel" with the value zero Paul Racines @pracines noted that on the LM forums at one point in time. I am still testing it, but so far, so good...no more DEVICE_xxx errors. This was for a slightly different error message, but it's worth a shot. April 24, 20206 yr Mace, that tip has helped me to complete a 1 hour leg at last. On the return leg device_hung happened after 20 mins. But its a great improvement for the interim, many thanks.

April 24, 20206 yr You can just join the Windows Insider Program but then you might get updates that are buggy.
April 24, 20206 yr Current reports say May 12th / 13th for the release of 2004. The build is already RTM, so it's 'done' and can be safely used. You can either join as a Microsoft Insider (slow ring for now) and you'll be able to download it, can even leave insider immediately and then only receive stable channel updates from there on out. You can also download the full ISO from the insider page if you want a clean installation -- Obviously requires being an insider as well.
