If you were and you had not renamed or deleted the windshield.dll file, you would have found that an attempt to load the aircraft would crash P3D. If it does not, then you don't have the PBR version. As mentioned, the dll goes in the panel folder. If you do not see a windshirld.ini file in the main C47 folder, then you probably don't need the updated file because you probably don't have the PBR version with the windscreen effects. I discovered I hadn't even added the DC 47 into v5 yet, I'm currently flying 4.5 hf3 until hotfix for v5. I've just replaced the vers. 4.5 hf3 with the new dll and the DC 47 in v5. This is especially the case if you have A2A's Accu-feel add-on, since that can of course be used with the AH B-17 to make it rattle and shake as per the real thing and then its only the engine wear and tear which separates them as far as flying goes, which might be a moot point anyway given that the R-1820 Cyclone was a very reliable engine. Graphically, there is little to separate them, but if I was being picky I'd say the AH one was slightly better, as one might expect with it having been developed later, certainly the AH one is the winner in terms of paint schemes, which are far superior to the A2A offerings as well as being more numerous, although since both of them have paint kits available, anyone who is prepared to make the effort can negate that difference either way. Then of course there are two other differences which have a bearing on things as well; the A2A Fortress is 50 quid, whereas the AH one is less than 20 quid, but beyond this, the A2A Fortress only includes the G variant, whereas the AH one includes the F variant and the G variant, so there are models both with and without the Bendix chin turret. So for Fortress fans, there is a reason to have both of them anyway if you want an F variant as well as a G variant. So yeah, whilst I can see your point - there's no bigger fan of A2A than myself, I regard them as the best flight sim developer there is bar none - the AH Fortress is far from being the poor cousin of the A2A offering, especially for the price. Now if only someone would make a E variant... Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
April 29, 20206 yr Will patiently wait for B17, it takes a lot of time to convert that beauty, but i hope one day she will be out again, and that day will be my birthday for the second time a year 🙂 Edited April 29, 20206 yr by Beardyman Artur
May 1, 20206 yr I have moved the windshield.dll file to the proper aircraft folders, but the pdf doesn't specify anything about the 'uv.jpg' file. Is this file necessary in order to get this working? Does anyone have a Windshield.ini file for A2A C182 and the Piper PA28 180 Cherokee? That is all. Works for me. May 1, 20206 yr No, you are simply replacing the dll that was not working before. A2A aircraft are all setup to use the rain effects already. Wait, are you talking about using the A2A effects in a non A2A airplane? If so, I have no idea. May 1, 20206 yr Aaron Vinci The answer is the same for a "non-A2A" aircraft that has had this added to it. Replacing the windshield.dll will restore the aircraft to working order in P3D v5 and the windshield effects will be there. If the aircraft does not already have the windshield effect built into its model, these files cannot be used to add it. Edited May 1, 20206 yr by Reader
