July 7, 20205 yr Oh, and there are still plenty of us that use keyboard only as well as gamepads to sim. It certainly does not make them lessor simmers than you. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

If you’re using a keyboard only, you’re not simulating flight realistically, unless you know of a plane that is flown via qwerty keyboard! I’ve got no problem with people doing whatever keeps them happy, but the word “simulation” does have a real meaning, and verisimilitude is central to the concept. No doubt that they said it will come to Xbox but after the PC version, with no time framework. They never dwell on the topic. Personal impression. Color me an elitist, I have honestly some difficulty to think that the FS can ever become a successful console game played with a gamepad. Not a question of hardware but of average user. This is a game which needs some dedication to enjoy, you have to learn. The great gratification of a greaser in a crosswind takes time to accomplish. The FS is not by nature a mass market game. To say it otherwise an average PC simmer like me can be a RPG gamer, an average RPG/FPS console gamer is rarely a simmer and that won’t change anytime soon. No doubt that the Gamepass will mechanically increase the simmer population but not sure of the effect on the addon market. Complex flight sims don’t translate well to consoles. Which is not to say that people - including me - won’t take planes up for some GA flying in MSFS when it’s available on the X-bone. It doesn’t really matter - the PC gaming market is much more massive than many around here seem to realize. Gaming in 2020 is not all about consoles! PC master race FTW! 🙂 Oz Sim Rig: MSI RTX3090 Suprim, an old, partly-melted Intel 9900K @ 5GHz+, Honeycomb Alpha, Thrustmaster TPR Rudder, Warthog HOTAS, Reverb G2, Prosim 737 cockpit. July 11, 20205 yr MSFS on XBOX i think was how Phil Spencer got the funding to bring FS back to PC through game pass, the power that be had turned away from FS some years earlier and offered the code to third party`s that wanted to develop from it, LM did take it up, as for how it will go down on game console that has the power of a top end gaming PC we will have to wait and see, and you can ditch the game pad for a keyboard and flight stick , the same as ditching the game pad for a steering wheel for driving games. July 11, 20205 yr The casual console gaming market is far bigger than the PC gaming market, over 60 million Xbox users a month. Remember, Xbox has more than 15 gaming studios designing for them, of which Asobo is one, also designing other games apart from MSFS. It would be great if MS marketed MS branded controls for MSFS as well. -Pedals, yoke, stick, etc. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

No judgement please for those using a keyboard only, they are not lesser simmers than you.. Just playing the game differently. Remember, no matter how much lipstick you put on it, the franchise comes from a gaming studio,, & was sold in gaming shops & is played with gaming joysticks. You not supposed to be having fun with P3D anyway..But that's another story! Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

Console gaming is massive, but so is PC. And PC tends to be the preferred platform for sim. Newzoo’s market analysis for 2015-2019 indicated that 25% of worldwide gaming revenue came from PC and 26% from TV+Console+VR. 2018 figures for gaming revenue were 32.9 billion for PC and 34.6 billion for console. TL;DR The idea that PC gaming is dwarfed by console gaming is absolute nonsense, as anyone who spends time on Steam and/or looks at the figures knows. July 11, 20205 yr Sue, I'm not debating that at all, I just mentioned Xbox users. And we know that there are other consoles out there as well. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

If flight sim sold 50 million copy`s in the first few months you would have more studios making flight sim, also steam do not count console game sales, COD MW not available on steam past 100 million players in just a few months. Up to now PC has been the only platform for flight sim i am not aware FSX XPLANE or P3D being available on a game console. Edited July 11, 20205 yr by G-RFRY Raymond Fry.
July 11, 20205 yr Quite correct, FSX is not on a console, X-Plane is for Windows, Android (phone & tablet), iOs & Linux, & P3D, obviously on PC only. As for 50 million MSFS users within a few months.. Minecraft has over 200M users, GTA V has 130M, Call of Duty Modern Warefare 3 has 26M+, so you guestimate of 50M is... achievable for a niche' product? Thats almost as much as Xbox's total monthly users.. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
July 11, 20205 yr I'm sure that 50 million units sold would make MS very happy: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_PC_games

July 14, 20205 yr For sure, since yesterday, all is clear: 18. August. And more, we know that Orbx, aerosoft, Carenado, Pmdg, Just Flight and many others are onboard with Asobo and will offer their products very quickly for Msfs. And believe me, as alpha tester, i am more than happy to know that all these majors partners were involved since many months with Asobo.
