FS2020 FAQ

Rob,

In one of the interviews conducted late last year with MS and Asobo (not Avsim), it was stated that there would be multiple ways to obtain the sim. Subscription is only one method, but they also confirmed that multiple, other means of obtaining the game/sim including one-time  payment were also planned. So the statement "subscription only" is not enitirely accurate.

Essentially MSFS is catering to multiple audiences and is a multi-platform product.Would you expect anything else from MS?

The interview with MSFS and Asobo I refer to is this one here : https://www.lanacion.com.ar/tecnologia/hablan-creadores-del-flight-simulator-2020-nid2318927.

Regards
Mark

PS. Look on the bright side. If MSFS fails you still have P3D, X-plane , Aerofly and DCS to fly. 😉

Oh and Mark, just so I don't destroy your faith in humanity:

1. Absolutely up to speed on Asobo's statements on the matter, am fully expecting both outright purchase and XBox game pass options.

2. I am going to buy it whatever the pricing model.

Original post probably needed a giant "/s", though I hoped that wasn't necessary!

Having said that, Occupy Redmond is still a thing, subject to mod approval. 😉

Join the proper forum at https://www.flightsimulator.com/ or the new Discord forum, at the same place.. We do not want repeats of what has been posted before, & it's a bit arrogant of 'experts' to post in an official FAQ forum such as this.

Yeah good one, public forum is not available, you probably need to be an Alpha "Tester".  🤦‍♂️

LOL!

R U really sure Rob? I'm mean committed to purchasing MSFS that is??

With "the movement" picking up steam and all, are you sure you will have time to devote to not only "buy" 🤑, but also fly MSFS??? You could be really busy organizing.😜

I wish you luck on your Redmond journey my friend.... 😉

OK, so first this thread got hijacked, and today the new MFS2020 FAQ / Wiki thread got torpedoed. It's taken down by a moderator.

Apparently I violated a rule ... it's not allowed to link to an outside website that also talks about flight sims. While it was entirely not meant to be competition, just the opposite, an addition. It has become a 25 pages overview with texts, images, videos and links on FS2020, all nicely gathered in one place.

This is what was said about in on 'the other' forum:

Great endeavour! You have spent a lot of time compiling this info and I can appreciate the effort. Very comprehensive! Website is nice to scroll through also. Congrats and cheers! PS It would be great if this could be pinned so it is always visible.

I'm sorry guys ... only the first 150 viewers got the chance to find the website ... I'm not allowed to mention the link here and Google is slow with Wordpress.

Rudy - I for one really appreciate the fact that you've done this.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of Avsim - this will be flamed/ flMmE..FLARM...set on fire.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this happen;

Nice one.

The Q & A is solid reasoning and what we know so far...

It really goes back to my earlier point and also others that having a "FAQ" is a waste of time.

You will get nothing but more rumors and speculation of which we already have plenty of on this forum.

Look through this MSFS Forum their are a myriad of questions being asked regularly that can't be answered by anyone here. The reason is no one knows anything more than what MS/ASOBO has trickled out in the Thursday developer updates.

Don't take it personally, just look through this forum and you will find many questions being speculated about continually. Even many of the topic titles end with a "?".

  • Will there be a "repository" (the FS2020 "Marketplace"?) of custom scenery that users can share and download?

Hello Microsoft!

This idea of our tree-man is actually very good! And it would fit well in your marketplace approach. Making the sim even more popular.

In XP you have the community gateway. Which is great. But actually I don't need thousands of airports that still don't quite look like their RL counterpart due to limited default scenery objects. It would be great to have custom airports that don't require you to download 14 libraries first. With an integrated marketplace, there seems to be a possibility to achieve that.

So I have a look if someone did the airport / airfield I like, and then just click on install.
