At the moment it's very hard to predict. There's the  large young reddit crowd who have never played flight sims before and have crazy expectations about the game. I'm seeing lots of broken hearts emerging from that crowd.

Avsim will probably be very mixed. There's gonna be those who kept their expectations in check and are generally happy. One notch lower there's a lot of people who are generally a bit let down by the rushed release and the side effects of that but are hopeful that Asobo makes it right in the future patches. And of course you have people who are negative just due to being so invested in other platforms. Maybe even in Avsim there's gonna be some really disappointed people who had crazy high expectations but they'll be laughed at.

As a summary I predict it's not going to be a complete s**t show. The game is going to be good enough so that in the end individual's satisfaction is going to be purely based on how the individual set their personal expectations.

I'm expecting a Flight Simulator and not a game.

Why the 18th comes immediately after the 17th! Isn't that simply amazing? 😝

UhOhhh.I think you will see more of a game since it will also be playable on Xbox.

A lot of the marketing materials appear to me to look a lot like gaming software marketing.

Not much for expectations for most would be a good thing. I believe we will see a ton of complaining on here no matter what it ends up being.

Me too. It's much more convincing to tell my SO that I'm busy simulating flying than playing a game.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Since I haven't had anything since FSX, I'm predicting something which will blow that experience out of the water, particularly as I finally have a PC approaching and in most cases matching the Ideal specs (GPU only slightly below - 5700XT, 8GB and CPU somewhere in between at Ryzen 5 3600) and will eventually have a Honeycomb yoke to improve upon my current Thrustmaster Top Gun Afterburner FFB which is a very loose and 'gritty' joystick in FSX.

I'm not expecting a fault-free, heavenly experience, that's for sure, but I think I may just be a far more enthusiastic flyer when this goes live.

🤞

OS:     Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHz
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU:  MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB]
SSD:  Corsair Force MP510 (for OS);  2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)
HDD:  Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet

Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)

Depends. Those who recognize every simulator ever released has had flaws and things that still need improvement will be wowed by the overall experience and feature set.

Those who constantly look for every negative and expect a base sim to be PMDG quality will proclaim it awful and say they are going back to P3D (before coming back to MSFS a week later).

Well considering its simulating an actual plane in the environment, or put another way, its simulating flight, its a flight simulator.

Unless you are shooting flying pink angry bunnies shooting at you for points, its not a game.

I think people need to get a grip. It's a better-looking version of the current flight sims with some nice features, not the second coming of christ. It'll be fun to play with, but it's not going to change your life, with the exception of making you between 59 and 109 quid worse off.

Your face is going to be so red when christ shows up holding a physical copy of MSFS on 8/18 😄

It just has to be stable (and by stable i mean by the p3d/xplane standards ... and specifically 4.5 and 11.41 respectively.. not v5 and vulcan)..

Im sure it will have rough edges .. im OK with that. As long as the launch is relatively smooth it will be fine. The time will be there to iron things out.
