Installations Problems - No Help from Microsoft

Just to note you can have a local account to log into win10 and a Microsoft account that works for all your devices and stored in the cloud (which I have).  You still should be able to log in to windows 10 with a local account and then log into the store with your Microsoft account. Mine is one and the same for both Windows and the Microsoft Store

Please give me instructions on how to log into my PC using my Microsoft account.  I currently log into my PC by turning PWR on and clicking on my name (no PIN no Passwords)

Are these issues avoided if MSFS is purchased through steam?

That is the more important, you need to associate your win10 account with your Microsoft accoun.

potentially yes, I've never had an issue with the MS store. But that doesn't help VCarlo

I was on the fence about Steam before reading this.  I’m surprised they didn’t have him find the config.sys wire, you know the red one, and give that wire a good tug.

I seem to be OK, but will likely regret I wrote that.  I have had a different issue which I have seen is also common.  I have had trouble logging into the Flightsimulator.com website.  After nearly 3 months of frustration I have found out what works for me.  First I have go to the site and attempt to log in.  Seems to start to take me to a login page, but ends up reloading the landing page again.  Clicking on the upper right image of a head confirms I am not logged in.I

So then I go to xbox.com.  Despite previously logging out of that site I find I am instead logged in.  I log out.  Then I return to flightsimulator.com and find out I am now logged in there, despite going through absolutely no login procedure.  I have now repeated this sequence several times and for me it is what it takes.  Surreal.

Now, the other issue I had is that a check of my credit card showed that I was billed twice.  I have had numerous Microsoft accounts over the years and cannot find a method to eliminate those I have long forgotten. So checking the most recent two accounts I found each showed a purchase at the Microsoft Store (or xbox.com).  So I logged into the account I had registered for Office, and clicked for a refund.  I then booted into the alternate boot drive where I had installed that initial footprint for MSFS 2020.  It is based on the more current account.  I found that if I clicked on the shortcut icon I had created for MSFS 2020, that it advised me that the footprint had been removed due to a refund.  I logged into each of the two accounts and found that both had been refunded.

I then purchased again through my account I wish to associate with MSFS.  Then I spent some 90 minutes attempting to start the installation (footprint) again.  Lots of hair pulling, but finally I appear to have found success.  (should I have written that??????)  Guess I will find out a week from today.

What a hassle.  What an unnecessary hassle.

NO banana... that is not the Store app..

On your PC:  Search button and key in Store!

I did that and my options start at the top going down >> STORAGE SETTINGS then settings- list a bunch of things - then Web search which gives me the link I showed earlier.  I know this sounds crazy - but typing in Store in the "search  box" gives me nothing else  (sorry)
