One thing that would benefit add on developers is if they explain up front what their product is. A lot of new people coming in plus old ones who have been away for a while (me) who have no idea what this product is.

FSX | DCS | X-Plane 11 | MSFS 2020 | IL2:BoX

Favorite aircraft currently: MSFS Savage Cub

FSUIPC.dll was the de facto standard for sophisticated addon aircraft and third party tools to interact with flight simulator, and also allowed for additional configuration of controller. It was supplanted somewhat in FSX by Simconnect.dll but there's still a lot of products that use FS UIPC to do what they do.

Its a time honoured utility (FS Universal Interface for PC) written by Pete Dowson which allows interfacing to other apps (SmartCARS is one I can think of) and also allows more depth of control of hardware like Joysticks, Throttles etc.

Thanks for this, I'm curious to see what it can do at these early stages.  I'd be happy to get my external axis calibration and per aircraft control schemes back.

One question from the install instructions, it says to install the MSFS SDK and then copy over the simconnect.dll...I haven't seen an SDK install file anywhere?

Thanks

Dave

AFAIK it was stated that the SDK would be included with the "game". However i don't own FS2020 so cannot offer any help on where to look. Does Pete not suggest where to look in the install instructions for FSUIPC?

the SDK is available within msfs. when developer mode is activated you can find a link to download it.

Thanks!

Dave

This is also one of the apps that is struck by the simconnect issue at the moment. The simconnect polls MSFS too often as far as I understand it, and your sim cant keep up. Framerates go down in the basement. Other noteable apps that are hit by this are: Vpilot (vatsim) and Spad.next (for saitek panels). Probably also other stuff like navigraph moving charts (simconnect).

Good to know, thank you for this. Was about to ask about FPS dropouts with v7

Not sure if i've done something wrong, but when i run this with MSFS 2020, I go from 50+ fps to 8-12, as soon as i stop it, fps goes back up 😕

Simconnect is broken currently. Have to wait for an update from Microsoft.
