Same result, stuck on same file with same behaviour, using 40 Mbps of my connection and getting nowhere. This is a complete shambles. I'm going out and I'm going to leave it for a bit - somehow it's managing to use 80% of my CPU and GPU for just downloading some files! @goreckm There's no such thing as a vanilla Win10 install, you have device drivers on it for a kick off then almost immediately you load on some software, I don't see why having a clean installation should make any difference to just downloading a few files, even the launcher is bugged or the servers are pants. I especially don't see why tying it to your MS account would make things any better. Tying it to your MS Account is important, since the game uses your MS account to login to the game. But, for clean install, I don't mean other software, I mostly mean that a lot of simmers and gamers are tinkerers, trying to perform optimizations using registry cleaners, turning off services, etc. I know because I used to do that alot. I think bringing everything back to defaults is a good starting point, and can alleviate issues.

Mine is E:\FSContent for example. I did wonder that so I tried using a different directory (it asks me everytime I restart the flightsimulator.exe) and it made no difference, I got exactly the same end result. I haven't messed about with my Windows really since I moved to 10. I am now uninstalling the client. I haven't decided if I will reinstall or just get a chargeback on my credit card and try again in 2 months when all this word not allowed should've been fixed. I see similar issues rekon it's MS servers: EDIT: I also wiped C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator too after all the above and it's STILL stuck with exactly the same behaviour. It never asked me for settings or Xbox login after reinstall so I must've not wiped something? I am out of ideas now. Help! Anyone know how I can get my PC to "forget" it ever had MFS on it? I've wiped some folders and reinstalled but it never asks me to do all the first time setup again, guessing it's kept in the registry somewhere? August 18, 20205 yr So it's even worse now, sometimes I am stuck on the blue bar... GARGH! I am going for a beer, screw this. Tried a VPN too to see if it was a server thing, that didn't fix it. August 18, 20205 yr @ckyliu I am in the same position with the same file. I am just going to leave mine all night and see if maybe it clears up on it's own at some point. I can only hope that it is some server issue since I've exhausted every other effort to get it moving. Please post a solution if you find one and I'll do the same Dave David
August 18, 20205 yr Thanks @DaveS I certainly will do. I have tried everything I can think of, most recently a Windows System Restore which has just broken my start menu! Reading on a Steam discussion some people think it is related to the servers but a VPN didn't fix it for me, and several left the launcher running for 10 hours with no improvement! I've submitted a zendesk ticket to MS/Asobo too but doubtful if I'll ever hear anything back. Good luck Dave! August 19, 20205 yr So I think I can confirm it is a server issue. I have been having the same file try to download for several hours the aboso flight tutorials basicinstruments file but I just check and it actually finally downloaded and moved to the next file. Still having the same issue with that one but I least it moved so perhaps just leaving to do it's thing is the best course of action at this point Dave David
August 19, 20205 yr At first I had the loading the same few files over and over. I tried all of the fixes that have been posted and now I have the "Press any key" loop. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have put in a full day of jumping through hoops not that couldn't use the exercise. 😉 I put in for a refund. We will see how that goes. When it is ready for prime time I will give it another go. Bill Bill N7IBG
August 19, 20205 yr I tried it again this morning (reinstalled the launcher) and same nonsense with the launcher downloading the first bit of the same file over and over, Steam community discussion full of people with similar issue and no cure (some suggesting using a wired ethernet connection might work), if it's not fixed by tonight I am getting a refund and waiting like Bill. I've no intention of funding such an omni shambles release. It's incredibly frustrating when my non-FS friends have had it installed for over a day but MS/Asobo haven't even acknowledged this as an issue, no mind fixed it. If this release was a potato I'd be putting it back in the oven for another 90 minutes.... Tried a VPN too to see if it was a server thing, that didn't fix it. So after spending a whole day working through this download looping issue, and trying every single remedy out there so far, using Surfshark VPN and connecting to the seattle server actually worked. It took about 8 hours to download but it never looped once, I am not sure if using Surfshark VPN and the Seattle server is the only fix but it definitely worked for me.
August 19, 20205 yr Gave it one final try this evening, through my normal connection and also through a VPN, exactly the same looping behaviour as before. I've had over 5 hours troubleshooting and 12 hours attempting to download. I paid £80 and have nothing to show for it more than 2 days after release and after request support from Microsoft, so I have submitted my refund request to Steam, I will let you know here if this is honoured. ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.

I just went directly to my bank and charged it back. I has finally able to get about 30gb downloaded over night but was stuck at that for the last several hours. I have had enough David
August 19, 20205 yr @SpiritFlyer @malct Steam took just 48 minutes to process my refund request in full, even though they'd logged 13 hours playtime from my download attempts. So much kudos to Steam, if/when I repurchase I will be doing so through them. If you can't get MFS to install or download, I really recommend getting a refund because it sends a message to companies. And it's only right, why should you pay and have nothing to show for it days afterwards? You can always repurchase when we hear good news.
